As a Senior Manager of Data Engineering, you’ll shape the technical direction of our enterprise data ecosystem while leading a high‑performing engineering team. This role sits within our Operational Data Exchange (ODX) organization — a critical engine behind the insights, intelligence, and scalable platforms that support major business areas across Schwab, including Schwab Technology Services (STS), Treasury, Audit, Corporate Tax, Risk, and Compliance.

You’ll guide teams through complex modernization initiatives, streamline and stabilize core systems, and architect future‑state platforms that enable client‑centricity, speed, and scale. What You’ll Do

As a Senior Manager and engineering lead, you’ll drive both strategy and execution:

Provide strategic, technical, and project leadership to software and data pipeline developmentLead hands‑on engineering while mentoring team members at all levelsNavigate cross‑functional communication to align product, development, QA, operations, and business teamsDrive Agile delivery, prioritization, and story decomposition to meet organizational goalsIdentify technology risks, dependencies, and mitigation plansEnsure delivery of high‑quality releases on time and within budgetOversee production support artifacts, deployment processes, and smooth handoffs to support teamsCollaborate with shared functions to improve automation, application support, and deployment workflowsCultivate open feedback, accountability, and continuous improvement across the engineering teamWhat you have

What You Have

You’ll bring deep technical expertise, proven engineering leadership, and a passion for building scalable, modern platforms.

Required Qualifications

Expertise in ETL development, Data Architecture, Data Modeling, Data Quality, best practices, and exception handlingProficiency with SQL and Google Cloud technologies including BigQuery, Cloud Storage, Dataflow, Composer, and Pub/SubExpertise in Informatica / IDMC. Strong business analysis experience to translate requirements into accurate data mapping12–15 years of data engineering experience7+ years of strategic project leadership in a matrixed organizationExtensive experience building and maturing teams at multiple levelsStrong understanding of Data Warehouse concepts (star schema, slowly changing dimensions, fact/dim modeling) and Operational Data Exchanges/StoresSolid understanding of data lifecycle, metadata management, and governance standardsAbility to disagree, debate with data, and commit to executionExcellent verbal and written communication for technical and non‑technical audiencesBachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, IT, or related field

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with corporate systems such as Workday, Remedy Helix, Jira, RallyExpertise in Java, Spring Boot, and PythonExperience supporting Treasury data needs (e.g., forecasting net interest revenue, liquidity/cash management, financial statements)Experience implementing event‑driven architectures (e.g., Confluent Kafka)Experience with data visualization/reporting toolsProficiency with developer tools such as GitHub, Bamboo, LiquibaseExperience with cloud‑based technologies (GCP preferred, AWS, Azure)Ability to implement cost‑effective, scalable solutions in fast‑paced, distributed environments 5+ years in financial services

In addition to the salary range, this role is also eligible for bonus or incentive opportunities.
