Where is the work:

This position has been designated as a Hybrid work schedule with work performed onsite 3 days each week. 

Job Summary: Trane Technologies seeks a Senior Indirect Tax Technology Manager to join its North America (“NA”) Sales & Use Tax Team. The candidate will have a deep expertise  of sales and use tax legislation and regulations  and the advanced technological proficiency and experience to translate that knowledge into systemic operational improvements, enhancements and integrations.  This will include knowledge and experience in the business implementations of tools, maintenance of existing processes that support the business unit indirect tax requirements and identifying opportunities to increase efficiencies through standardization and automation of our tax processes and systems across NA regions. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to propose and execute on the implementation of innovative solutions to support the company in its objective to optimize and be compliant with Indirect Tax requirements. The position supports the implementation and the tax configuration of multiple applications including Vertex O Series tax engine and Oracle R12. Also, the position supports existing tools for transaction processing, cashflow optimization and indirect tax filings. The successful candidate will be required to collaborate cross-functionally with the tax technology team and business unit implementation teams to support the company in completing business-critical projects.


Responsibilities: 

Assist the project team with the implementation and optimization of Vertex O Series, Oracle R12, and Worksight, including but not limited to: Partnering with the business unit and its implementation team to identify and communicate the applicable business objectives and indirect tax requirements.Integrating, designing, configuring, and implementing the Vertex tax engine for enterprise applications and billing systems for both sales and purchasing activities. Validating/correcting the transaction flows and tax treatment during the testing cycles.Preparing functional specification documents for tax engine integration with multiple systems.Advisory support with the review of the indirect tax determination tool (Vertex). Develop efficient and optimal processes for ongoing maintenance of indirect tax logic rules in tax engine.Provide guidance and support the business and indirect tax compliance team with systems to update and process impacts resulting from changes in US indirect tax laws and regulations.Support the on-boarding and optimization of new indirect tax activities at each go-live of Oracle R12/Vertex. Support Oracle R12 upgrades and regression testing of the Vertex tax engine, where applicable.Collaborate with the worldwide indirect tax team to ensure accurate optimized solutions are in place to ensure seamless data flow and accurate tax reporting.Collaborate with third-party vendor product teams (i.e., Oracle, Vertex, CertifyTax and other Tax partners) to optimize the use of the solutions and resolve issues, if anyOversee relationship as primary contact with external service providers that assist with implementations to ensure resources are being efficiently and effectively managed and that business needs and timely delivery within budget are being met.Monitor legislative, case law, and other changes in indirect tax guidance or practice, determine the impact to the company and propose implementation measures. Provide Tax Technology training to the team as required as well as other stakeholders.

·       Continue to build strong relationships between Tax, Accounting, Business, Legal, IT and other relevant departments in order to implement tax (compliance) demands.

·       Verify that content updates are applied correctly, troubleshoot tax calculation issues, and ensure that all systems are tested for accuracy and completeness.

Identify tax technology needs, including reducing manual effort, seeking opportunities for process improvements, automation, efficiency gains and application of tax process and technology best practices through the use of existing technology and the implementation of new technology and analytics.Develop and maintain dashboards, KPIs, and analytics to monitor tax compliance, exemption certificate team activities, identify risks, and provide actionable insights to leadership.Identify and pursue Indirect tax efficiencies / opportunities.


Qualifications:

Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics or equivalent. A minimum of 10 years of relevant experience with large-scale Tax Technology projects and deployments in a multinational environment.Strong Indirect Tax Technical knowledge required.Experience with indirect tax compliance matters, preferred.Experience in project managementExperience in complex tax research analysisExperience in product taxability system configuration and set-upKnowledge of Oracle ERP required and knowledge of Vertex O Series Tax engine, preferred.Strong information technology skills: Alteryx, Tableau, SQL, preferred.Team player with excellent interpersonal and communication skillsProblem solver, results oriented with a proven track record of taking ownership of projects and initiatives.Able to work both independently and able to manage competing priorities in a high-paced environment.

 

Compensation:

Base Pay Range: $120,550-159,950  Total compensation for this role will include a commission/incentive plan. Disclaimer: This base pay range is based on US national averages. Actual base pay could be a result of seniority, merit, geographic location where the work is performed.
