Senior Tax Manager (Income Tax)

**Alamo Group Inc.** is accepting applications to fill a **Sr. Tax Manager** position responsible for income taxes at its Corporate Headquarters in Seguin, TX. Reporting to the VP, Corporate Finance, the Senior Income Tax Manager is responsible for preparing the Alamo Group Inc. quarterly and annual provision, managing the outsourced income tax compliance process and relationship, providing accurate and timely analysis and information to management and external parties, and managing special projects (including through tax research).
**The Senior Income Tax Manager will:**
1. Manage the quarterly and annual provision under ASC 740.
2. Lead the US federal and state income tax compliance process, including managing the relationship with the company’s outsourced income tax compliance provider and ensuring the information developed is accurate and timely provided.
3. Respond accurately and timely to tax queries, while ensuring technical responses are reasonably researched and adequately documented.
4. Lead and/or collaborate with other members of the Tax Department to analyze and respond to IRS and state notices and requests for documents.
5. Assist the VP Corporate Finance with income tax due diligence on potential M&A targets.
6. Analyze, research and document various tax planning opportunities.
7. Coordinate and lead internal and/or external audits as needed, including foreign income tax audits with the support of local outsourced providers.
8. Liaise with and support the accounting departments of all subsidiaries with tax queries, including analyzing the tax impact of cross-border transactions (e.g., withholding taxes).
9. Identify and implement Tax Department process improvements.
10. Monitor legislative and regulatory tax law developments, communicate the effects of these developments to management and the tax department, and create strategies to capitalize on changes to tax legislation.
11. Remain up to date on tax developments and professional standards.
12. Manage and mentor members of the tax team to greater levels of effectiveness and efficiency.
13. Perform other duties/assignments as required.
**The ideal candidate will have/be:**
1. Advanced knowledge and understanding of applicable U.S. tax law, regulations, and agency rules pertaining to income tax.
2. Skilled and proficient with complex tax spreadsheet analysis, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, and other mainstream office software.
3. Proven ability to balance attention to detail within broader goals and time limitations.
4. Able to self-direct and manage multiple projects simultaneously to successful completion in a deadline driven environment.
5. Able to adapt to change and be flexible in a fast-paced environment.
6. Team player with the ability to work effectively across distances with tax, finance, legal and business team members.
7. Able to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, with the ability to formulate and deliver ideas and material in a clear and concise manner.
8. Able to identify tax concerns/risks, review related information, and apply solid innovative thinking to develop, evaluate and recommend solutions.
9. Able to work irregular and/or long hours that may include weekends and/or holidays as business and tax reporting requirements dictate.
10. Able to travel as needed, though travel is expected be less than 10% of the time.

**Education and Experience:**
+ Bachelor’s degree or higher in accounting, finance, business, or related field is required. An advanced degree is preferred.
+ Preferred candidates will have a current CPA license.
+ 7+ years of tax experience is required, including specialization in income tax preferred, or equivalent combination of experience and education
+ Familiarity with OneSource Tax Provision software preferred.
**Working Conditions:**
Primarily in an office environment indoors with frequent sitting for extended periods of time. Occasional lifting, pushing or pulling of 10 pounds in the performance of administrative responsibilities.
