The Senior Tax Manager is a professional with experience in taxes of Mexico and other Latin American countries. They lead Aptiv's Mexican and Latin American tax team, manage risks, provide strategic tax advice, oversee compliance processes, manage audits, and execute (in conjunction with the corporate tax department) tax planning projects to optimize the tax burden of the organization.
Your Role:
Review of current income tax calculations (accounting and tax reconciliations, annual tax returns, and tax opinions)Review of deferred tax calculations according to U.S. accounting standards (FAS 109 / ASC 740) and Mexican Financial Reporting Standards (NIF D-4)Review of the effective tax rate calculation for U.S. GAAP (quarterly) and for Mexican GAAP (annual) Analysis and reporting of FAS 5, FIN 48 (ASC 740-10, Accounting for Uncertain Tax Positions) and SOX (Sarbanes-Oxley Act of 2002)Review and control of intercompany transactionsReview of various transfer pricing requirements (i.e., APA, Safe Harbor, transfer pricing studies, Local and Master File)Support preparation of financial reports for statutory reporting purposesReview responses for additional information sent by the tax authority regarding tax returnsReview responses to any requests and/or audits from the tax authoritiesAddress any questions related to current legislation (i.e., Mexico Income Tax Law, Mexico VAT Law) that other departments may haveCoordinate the tax issues and the tax opinion with the external auditorsReview transfer pricing studies for Mexican and Latin American legal entitiesExecute transfer pricing, tax compliance, tax accounting, and tax planning projects for Mexico and Latin AmericaReview tax implications of contracts with legal entities in Latin America (intercompany and external)Maintain ongoing communication with other internal stakeholders in Finance, GBS, Legal, GTC, GTO, SCM, Operations, Engineering, Human Resources, Labor Relations to meet annual goals and objectivesMaintain ongoing communication with tax authorities and tax advisorsAny other job-related activity required by the immediate supervisorMy background:
Degree in Accounting, Administration, or a related fieldPostgraduate degree in Finance, Tax, Law, or a related field10+ years of similar tax experienceAdvanced experience in ExcelAdvanced EnglishKnowledge of SAPKnowledge of income tax law, Value Added Tax, and the federal fiscal codes of Mexico, Central American, and South American countries (e.g., Honduras, Guatemala, Argentina, Brazil, El Salvador)Knowledge of tax litigation processesKnowledge of US GAAP tax accounting rules (FAS 109 / ACS 740) & MX GAAP (NIF D-4)Knowledge of transfer pricing Ability to understand business strategy, local business processes, identify related tax impacts and execute on opportunitiesBasic knowledge of foreign trade laws, IMMEX, VAT certification, and IEPSBasic knowledge of corporate and/or commercial lawExperience in tax planning projectsProactiveOrganizedTeamwork across different areas of the organizationService-oriented attitudeLeadership skillsWHY JOIN US?
