Senior Tax Consultant
Job Description
The Senior Tax Consultant will manage compliance for multi-state sales and use tax obligations, ensuring timely and accurate filings, maintaining exemption certificates, and supporting audits. This is a contract role that requires strong technical knowledge of tax regulations, attention to detail, and proficiency with tax software systems.
Responsibilities
Prepare, review, and file monthly, quarterly, and annual sales and use tax returns across multiple jurisdictions.Maintain accurate records of tax filings and exemption certificates.Ensure compliance with state and local tax laws and regulations.Manage sales and use tax audits, including gathering documentation and responding to inquiries.Conduct reverse audits to identify and recover overpayments or credits.Monitor changes in tax laws and implement necessary process adjustments.Provide guidance to internal teams on taxability of products/services and transaction tax issues.Configure and maintain tax engines for accurate taxability mapping.Perform system integration testing and user acceptance testing for tax projects.Liaise with Accounting, Procurement, A/R, and IT teams to ensure proper tax handling.Train employees on tax compliance processes and systems.Essential Skills
5+ years of experience in sales and use tax compliance.Multi-state and indirect tax experience.Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related fields.Experience with tax software systems such as Vertex, Avalara, or OneSource.Additional Skills & Qualifications
Strong Excel and data analysis skills.Experience with Dynamics 365 is a plus.Work Environment
The position is hybrid with 3-4 days onsite and 1-2 days remote. The office is located in South Norwalk, within a 10-minute walk from the train station. You will work directly with the Senior Director of Tax, Indirect Tax Manager, and Interim Director.

Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $40.00 - $45.00/hr.
