About the role
UGL are looking for personnel with systems engineering and safety assurance experience to work as a Senior Systems Engineer.
The immediate focus of this role is in the area requirements management – including requirements verification and validation - in a multi-disciplinary rail design and construction environment. More generally, UGL aim to provide systems engineers with opportunities for technical and personal growth across all systems engineering disciplines covered in ISO 15288, EN 50126/8/9, and EN 61508 so they can contribute to the overall technical assurance of assets that UGL design, construct, maintain and operate.
The initial focus area for this role will be to provide specialist advice for the following Systems Assurance functions:
· Develop and execute verification and validation (VV) plans, procedures, compliance matrices and associated reports in accordance with Customer and industry standards;
· Ensure that all necessary reviews, verifications and validations are planned and conducted, and the outcomes of these are incorporated into the design;
· Provide support to Projects as requested in verification and validation planning and statusing;
· ensure that all systems, components and process of the project meet safety, technical and operational requirements while complying with industry standards;
· coordinate and support regulatory approval processes, including preparing documentation for audits, assessments, and railway safety certifications
More general systems engineering activities and opportunities that may arise include:
· Wider stakeholder engagement activities to elicit and capture requirements;
· management of interface and integration issues between systems and scopes of work;
· development of product functional safety assurance arguments;
· prediction and demonstration of product reliability and availability;
· development of overall assurance arguments iaw Customer – and industry – expectations;
About You
Tertiary qualifications in a related engineering disciplinePrevious exposure to systems engineering practices on multi-disciplinary Projects with a keen interest to contribute more in this field3-5 years relevant experience – including understanding of requirements management and compliance processesMust have an Australian Drivers Licence· Demonstrated ability to work independently to organise and prioritise demands, handle multiple complex tasks and simultaneously, set and meet deadlines and follow-through within a fast-paced environment with multiple and competing demands
Strong communication skills (oral written) including strong negotiation and influencing skills and the ability to establish effective working relationships with a variety of people at different levels both internally and externally.· Ability to manage multiple verification and validation activities within complex, multidisciplinary projects, while maintaining project timelines, quality and safety standards
· Capable of interacting effectively with cross-functional teams, stakeholders, subcontractors and regulatory authorities
