The National Security Sector at Leidos is seeking a Senior System Administrator to join a dynamic team based in Tysons Corner, VA. This exciting opportunity allows you to apply your expertise in system administration and software programming while supporting a small team responsible for managing a wide range of mission-critical systems.
Key Details:
Work hours fall within the core shift range of 0600–1600
On-call duty is required one weekend every six weeks
Candidates must successfully complete a medical clearance process prior to starting work.
Primary Responsibilities include:
Management of medium-to-large-scale government data warehouses or digital archive management
Interface control document (ICD) implementation and maintenance of government systems interconnects
Ensure Security compliance requirements
Provide on-site tiered help desk support to user base
Will work onsite in a SCIF with operational pager/cell phone duty rotation
Contribute technical insights to guide the system's cloud hosting strategy
Develop monitoring dashboards to alert on software operational status
Metrics, performance reporting, system health and status of medium to large scale storage and processing systems
Storage maintenance and capacity planning
HW/SW troubleshooting
Microsoft WSH programming
LINUS shell programming
Script programming
Audit log management and administration
Provide expert support in the administration and maintenance of the Enterprise Linux infrastructure
Provide support in information security system requirements and design applicable to Linux hosts
Manage Linux systems using Puppet or other config management tools; handle patches and mitigate IAVA vulnerabilities
Improve system operations and functionality, monitoring, and optimization of the hardware platform.
Implement STIG guidance to support ATO sustainment efforts
Troubleshoot and resolve network, automation pipelines, and infrastructure issues
Cloud VPC, Compute Services, Storage Management, Monitor and Observability, Identity and Access management
Experience in Database Administration and system monitoring, including Linux command-based troubleshooting
Provide technical input, assist in the maintenance of system administration, security policy/procedure documentation
Manage and troubleshoot Configuration Management tools, covering Linux and Database Administration tasks such as configuration and upgrades
Document system configuration, external service dependencies, optimal settings (Authentication/Authorization/Accounting (AAA), resource allocation), and standard procedures (startup/shutdown, backup, upgrade)
Required Clearance: Active and in-scope TS/SCI with polygraph required for consideration. US citizenship is required.
Minimum Education, Skills, and Experience:
Requires a bachelor’s degree and 8+ years of experience OR master’s degree and 6+ years of experience. Additional related experience and certifications may be considered in lieu of degree.
5+ years of technical experience in maintaining automated system platforms for the intelligence community.
Demonstrated success with Linux, database system administration, and scripting
Experience operating , maintaining HW, SW, Cloud Components, LANs, WANs, SAN, and NAS.
Open source and custom application deployments and maintenance experience to include ATO and patching for cyber compliance
Communicate effectively with customers and team in written and oral forums.
Be familiar with the complexity of issues and be able to estimate the level of effort times and be able to provide appropriate documentation and upkeep log files.
Degree or equivalent demonstrated experience in a technical field.
Experience with or understanding of authentication and authorization A&A fundamentals
Software: Apache Webserver, PostGres SQL/PostGIS, OMAR, OSSIM, RedHat LINUS, FreeIPA, Microsoft Windows Server, Microsoft Office, Microsoft Internet Information Service, OGC Web Services (WMS, WFS, WCS), Google Earth Client, Geospatial products
Hardware: Network Attached Storage (NAS) deployment and maintenance; Firewall, switch and router installation, deployment and maintenance; server
Additional Skills desired:
Familiarity with common industry software tools, concepts, and systems administration
Familiarity with Data management, Data integration, User Interface, Hardware, Databases
Strong Linux skills and familiarity with hybrid cloud/on-prem architecture, AWS, C2S, etc.
CI/CD development experience with Jenkins, GitLab, Ansible, Kubernetes, OpenShift, and/or Docker
Certifications: Microsoft Certifications, Cisco Network Certifications, Linux Certifications, AWS Certifications, Geospatial certifications
