Senior System Engineer
Siemens Mobility is the trusted partner for sustainable and seamless public transport solutions for rail and road, from the first to the last mile. Our goal is to set the highest standards of customer satisfaction, achieved through motivated employees who create real value. Discover what it is like to be part of our team in Taiwan! We are looking for a Senior System Engineer to join the technical execution team of the TRC EI68 project, a major refurbishment initiative covering a significant portion of the Taiwan Rail network. This role is designed as a long-term leadership opportunity within our local project engineering organization. Initially reporting to the Overall System Manager, the Senior System Engineer will act as Deputy System Manager. The first year will focus on onboarding, training, and integration into the Siemens global network and project context. Within 12 to 18 months, the role is expected to transition into full responsibility for leading the local technical team and serving as the primary technical interface to the customer, as the current Overall System Manager's delegation concludes. This dual-role position is critical to ensuring successful delivery of the engineering scope, including system integration, interface coordination, and design assurance.
Responsibilities: Progressively assume leadership of the local team of Project Engineers and Test & Commissioning (T&C) Engineers. Act as the primary technical interface with internal Siemens stakeholders, TRC, and external partners. Represent the technical team in internal and external coordination meetings, including design reviews. Serve as the Design Director, the contractual technical interface to TRC, after the Overall System Manager is repatriated to Siemens Spain. Ensure compliance with Siemens Mobility engineering standards as well as TRC customer specifications. Plan and monitor system-related tasks within the overall project framework, including the identification and resolution of technical deviations (e.g., supporting variation or change order processes). Support technical documentation workflows, RAMS (Reliability, Availability, Maintainability, and Safety) integration, and interface management. Manage and coordinate technical interfaces with Siemens engineering teams in Spain and Germany, navigating cross-cultural and multi-time-zone collaboration. Build internal networks and technical competence to represent the project independently in all technical matters. Drive the technical ramp-up strategy to strengthen local engineering capabilities and establish a self-sufficient engineering and T&C team in Taiwan. Support recruitment, onboarding, and mentoring of additional technical staff as the project scales. Develop and nurture local engineering leadership to ensure long-term sustainability of technical excellence in Taiwan. Requirements: Minimum 15 years of engineering experience, including at least 8 years in electromechanical system engineering or construction project roles & 5 years in a system engineering leadership role Proven track record in electromechanical system design and integration, ideally in rail or infrastructure projects Prior experience with signaling systems is essential Deep knowledge of system integration, interface management, and RAMS principles Strong leadership skills with a demonstrated ability to coordinate cross-functional, multicultural teams in international project environments Independent, solution-oriented mindset with strong technical judgment and excellent stakeholder communication skills Fluency in English and Mandarin (reading and writing) is mandatory Our Commitment to Diversity, Equity and Inclusion: We value your unique identity and perspective. We are fully committed to providing equitable opportunities and building a workplace that reflects the diversity of society. Come bring your authentic self and transform the everyday with us.
