Due to continued growth, Cushman & Wakefield is looking to expand its highly regarded National Rating team and is seeking a Surveyor, Senior Surveyor, or Associate to join our Birmingham office.

This is an excellent opportunity to join a collaborative, market-leading team advising a wide range of major clients on complex and high-value rating matters across a diverse UK portfolio. Key Responsibilities:Develop and implement strategic approaches to minimise clients’ business rates liabilities across a varied portfolioAdvise on and manage empty property rates, including identifying and securing all applicable reliefs and mitigation strategiesInspect, measure, and assess properties accurately for rating valuation purposes in accordance with relevant standardsAnalyse valuation evidence, rental data, and assessments to identify opportunities for appeals and savingsPrepare and submit high-quality cases through the Check, Challenge, Appeal (CCA) process, including negotiations with the Valuation Office Agency (VOA)Manage rating appeals from inception through to resolution, ensuring best outcomes for clientsBuild and maintain strong client relationships, delivering clear, commercial, and timely adviceContribute to achieving team revenue targets and proactively identify opportunities for new businessSupport, mentor, and develop junior team members

Skills & Experience:MRICS qualified (or equivalent), or working towards qualification, with relevant experience in business rates/ratingStrong track record of delivering rating advice, managing appeals, and handling client portfolios across commercial property sectorsExcellent analytical, report-writing, and negotiation skills, with the ability to interpret valuation evidence and present clear, reasoned argumentsStrong commercial awareness with a proactive and entrepreneurial approach to client development and business generationEffective communicator with the ability to build long-term client relationships and work collaboratively within a team environment
