Your Impact at SAM
We are seeking a Senior Survey Title Expert to join our team. In this role, you will leverage your deep expertise in land titles and surveying to ensure the accuracy and quality of deliverables. You will be responsible for conducting thorough review of title documents, performing additional title research, including chains of title, as needed, and performing QA/QC reviews of surveys and related title work. Your knowledge will directly support projects in diverse industries, with a strong emphasis on energy and infrastructure.
+ Conduct thorough review of title and survey documents to identify title defects, land rights and encumbrances.
+ Conduct detailed title research and run chains of title to aid with the resolution of title defects and ownership history.
+ Perform QA/QC reviews of survey documents, title commitments, and related materials to ensure accuracy and compliance with client and regulatory standards.
+ Collaborate with surveyors, project managers, and clients to resolve discrepancies between survey data and title records.
+ Provide guidance and mentorship to junior staff on title review processes and survey/title integration.
+ Serve as a subject matter expert in title matters for complex survey projects.
+ Work closely with clients and external partners (title companies, law firms, developers) to facilitate smooth project execution.
+ Support the development of best practices and standards for integrating title research with surveying workflows.
What You Bring to SAM
+ 7+ years of experience in title research, land surveying, or a related field.
+ Strong expertise in title review, chains of title, and survey/title integration.
+ Strong expertise in land rights related to fee, leasehold and easement estates.
+ Proven experience performing QA/QC on survey deliverables and title documentation.
+ Familiarity with survey principles, legal descriptions, and land records.
+ Experience with renewable energy projects (solar, wind, transmission, etc.) is highly desirable.
+ Ability to interpret and resolve discrepancies between survey plats, legal descriptions, and title documents.
+ Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to clearly explain findings to technical and non-technical audiences.
+ Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to work independently or in a team environment.
