This role will focus on leading structural analysis efforts for electronics enclosures, subassemblies, and integrated mechanical systems. The ideal candidate will be highly skilled in finite element modeling, structural mechanics, and aerospace environments, with the ability to mentor junior engineers while collaborating with cross-disciplinary teams.
Job Duties and Responsibilities Lead and oversee the structural analysis of electronics enclosures, subassemblies, and integrated mechanical systems Develop and implement advanced finite element models (FEM) to simulate and predict structural behavior under MIL-STD-810 and DO-160 environments Demonstrate and communicate the validity and applicability of models to stakeholders Perform linear and nonlinear static, dynamic, and thermal analyses to assess stress margins, fatigue life, and failure modes Collaborate with design engineers to optimize structural designs, materials, and configurations for performance, weight, and cost targets Conduct trade studies and sensitivity analyses to evaluate design alternatives and mitigate risks Generate detailed analysis reports, technical memos, and presentations for management, customers, and regulatory authorities Mentor junior mechanical engineers in structural analysis techniques and best practices Support test engineers in developing and validating structural models, simulations, and test plans for ground and flight testing Investigate and resolve anomalies, discrepancies, and non-conformances during design, manufacturing, testing, or operations, and implement corrective actions Job Requirements and Minimum Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited institution Minimum of 4 years of structural analysis experience Extensive background in mechanical analysis under harsh environmental conditions Proficiency in FEA software such as Ansys, Simcenter, or Femap Strong knowledge of structural mechanics, dynamics, and materials science for aerospace applications Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills with the ability to resolve complex structural challenges Ability to apply first principles and hand calculations to bound difficult problems Strong communication skills, capable of conveying technical information clearly to engineers, managers, and customers Detail-oriented with a commitment to quality, accuracy, and compliance in structural evaluations Excellent written and verbal communication skills About STS Technical ServicesSTS Technical Services is a Top 100 Staffing Firm that partners with leading organizations in aerospace, defense, manufacturing, and industrial sectors.
