Climate LLC: Senior Staff Engineer for St. Louis, MO by digital agricultural solutions provider to lead design, implementation & continuous improvement of agronomic software applications, features & system architecture; ensure quality, scalability, observability & maintainability of code; mentor & guide engineers; keep apprised of new technologies & digital agriculture trends; evaluate tools, technologies & methods for potential use across the enterprise; lead integration of new tools, technologies & methods; contribute to development of agronomic software product roadmap. Requires Master’s in C.S., I.T., Computer or Software Engineering or closely related field & 3 yrs experience in software engineering and/or development position(s): analyzing spatial agronomic data to write software code to enable seed planting, crop selection and/or grower decisions; writing testable code in Java, Python, Clojure & NodeJS; leading cross-organizational development of scalable, cloud-based microservices & data pipelines using container technologies, including AWS and/or Docker; leading and/or mentoring junior team members; presenting technical information to engineering & non-engineering audiences, including product owners & support stakeholders; developing software applications using public cloud platforms, including AWS, Azure & GCP; conducting performance tuning & query optimization in SQL for relational & non-relational data stores; developing event-driven architectures using messaging middleware, including SQS and/or JMS; driving system support & improvements using observability techniques with Datadog; designing modern REST & GraphQL APIs using AWS capabilities, including EC2, S3, RDS, SQS, Dynamo-DB, and/or Post-GIS; participating in Agile processes & ceremonies, including contributing to sprint planning, reviews, & retrospectives; & collaborating with support teams to troubleshoot customer issues. Will also accept Bachelor’s in said fields & 5 yrs progressive, post-Bachelor’s stated experience. Telecommuting permitted from anywhere in U.S. Must provide on-call support 24 hrs/day for one wk period per month. 10% U.S. travel req’d. Salary Range: Employees can expect to be paid a salary between $151,000.00 to $177,000.00. Additional compensation may include a bonus or commission (if relevant).
