Senior Specimen Processing Specialist – Per Diem

LabCorp is seeking a dedicated and motivated individual to join their Specimen Processing team in New York, NY.  The position, Specimen Processing Specialist, will be responsible for performing clinical specimen accessioning, sample sorting and data entry in a fast-paced, high-throughput environment located onsite with one of our client offices.

**Pay Range: $17.25 - $34.00 per hour 

All job offers will be based on a candidate’s skills and prior relevant experience, applicable degrees/certifications, as well as internal equity and market data

Work Schedule: This is a casual/per diem position, hours will be "as needed". Start and end times will vary on from Monday – Saturday between the hours of 7:00am - 4:30pm.

Job Responsibilities:

Prepare laboratory specimens for analysis and testing

Pick up samples directly from client office

Communicate effectively with client office staff

Research, troubleshoot and resolve and document customer and specimen problems, return specimens to client offices for corrections as needed

Partner with sales to resolve onsite concerns/issues and support initial client set up and expectation setting

Scrub requisitions to resolve missing items/details

Spin/freeze/split or other special services as required by client

Meet department activity and production goals

Data entry of patient information in an accurate and timely manner

Accurately identify and label specimens

Properly prepare and store excess specimen samples

Requirements:

High School Diploma or equivalent

Previous or current Labcorp experience is highly preferred

1 year relative experience required (lab/accessioning, production/manufacturing/warehouse environment or patient facing health care experience)

1 year medical or patient facing healthcare experience required

Comfortable handling biological specimens

Ability to accurately identify specimens

Experience working in a team environment

Strong data entry and organizational skills

High level of attention to detail

Proficient in MS Office

Ability to lift up to 40lbs.

Ability to pass a standardized color blind test
