**Job Description:**
The (Senior) Specialist, Health Economics and Market Access - APAC will be responsible for supporting and executing the reimbursement, market access, and health economics strategies to expand patient access and grow the market to help J&J Heart Recovery products become the standard of care within the region.
This role will report to the Senior Manager of HEMA for APAC Heart Recovery and dotted line to the Senior Director of HEMA within the Global Heart Recovery Reimbursement and HEMA organization.
This role is responsible for working closely with the local heart recovery teams to grow the market for existing products, launch new products and lead market access activities to support the business and drive maximum impact and growth.
In addition, the individual will work in strong partnership with regional and global partners to achieve goals and lead the relationship with external HTA agencies and payers in the local market to drive optimal funding of Abiomed products. **Execute Abiomed HEMA strategy development and execution in APAC in particular South Korea and Taiwan.**
Represent regional HEMA needs and voices to various internal and external stakeholders. Partner with Sr. Manager, HEMA APAC, local leadership, and sales teams on product launch and growth strategies. This includes but is not limited to.
• Shape and execute reimbursement and access strategy development, submission and maintenance. o Collaborate with global and regional HEMA and cross-functional teams to optimize the reimbursement/access/HTA (Health Technology Assessment) strategies and execution plan for our technologies. o Shape the external environment to maximize access. o Ideate and shape value-based health care strategies as relevant, e.g., value-based health care and innovative access models, including models to build business in self-pay markets. o Collaborate with global HEMA and cross-functional teams to shape and influence global development and market access strategies, e.g., Evidence generation strategy (EGS).
• Lead evidence and economic messaging dissemination aligned with local sales and marketing to support access and adoption of our technologies.
• Engage with KOLs and local teams to achieve business growth goals. COMPETENCIES AND LEADERSHIP: Functional and Leadership Competencies: • Market access assessment and strategy: Understand the healthcare environment, the external marketplace and market access requirements and develop market access strategies for market access and adoption, including HTA and self-pay markets.
• Funding and reimbursement: Understand funding and reimbursement requirements across APAC. Inform and shape strategies to optimize funding & reimbursement.
• Commercial acumen: Understand commercial financial information related to the business, key performance indicators and financial forecasting metrics and trends impacted by market access, funding and reimbursement.
• Strategic Thinking: Apply HEMA perspectives and knowledge to current and future portfolio and solution planning to deliver mid and long-term business success. Identify strengths and opportunities, along with weaknesses and threats and how to mitigate them.
• Prioritization: Align and prioritize the strategies with key stakeholders. Be able to differentiate strategies from tactics.
• Learning agility: Quickly learn and understand new innovation and constantly changing environment.
• Lead through ambiguity: Lead with ambiguous environment and develop scenario-based planning.
• Persuasive communication: Communicate complex information clearly and confidently, using a storytelling approach, to influence the achievement of the best outcomes for all stakeholders, both in written and verbal communication.
**EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: Experience Required:**
• Minimum 5 years of healthcare industry experience preferably in the cardiology medical device space, with reimbursement/HTA submission experience in APAC.
• Experience in developing and executing local market access strategies to drive business.
• Understanding of health economics, marketing and/or market research, and formation of marketing solutions.
• Proven ability to understand business strategy; translate it into solutions that support the company’s business goals.
• Ability to manage multiple demands, with a systematic approach to prioritization and organization of resources.
• Experience working successfully in matrix environments.
• Track record of working effectively to shape the market and influence key decision makers.
• Solid understanding of healthcare market dynamics in APAC Education Required:
• Must have bachelor’s degree, Master’s degree in a health sciences-related field preferred (e.g., epidemiology, outcomes research, pharmacy, health policy, medical/biology sciences, health economics, health policy)
• Proficient language skills in English, with the preference of speaking Korean or Mandarin, both verbal and written.
