 At Danfoss Power Electronics & Drives, we are excited to invite a Senior Software Test Engineer to join our forward-thinking Product Development team. In this role, you'll play a critical role in validating the performance, reliability, and compliance of complex network and communication systems. You’ll lead testing initiatives focused on industry-standard protocols and collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure robust and scalable solutions.

What You’ll Be Doing

 Key Responsibilities

- Design, develop, and execute comprehensive test plans and cases for protocol-based systems and devices

- Analyze protocol specifications and provide test coverage recommendations

- Set up and manage test environments, including virtual networks and simulation tools

- Identify, log, and investigate defects; coordinate with development teams for resolution

- Monitor protocol behavior using packet capture tools (Wireshark, tcpdump) and interpret results

- Drive protocol conformance, interoperability, and performance testing

- Contribute to continuous improvement of test strategies and processes

What We're Looking For

Must have competencies:

Technical Skills:

4 to 8 years of experience in doing verification/validation testing of industrial communication protocols (PROFINET, EtherNet/IP, EtherCAT, BACnet/IP, MODBUS TCP, POWERLINK, PROFIBUS DP, DeviceNet, CANopen, BACnet MS/TP, Modbus RTU, Metasys N2, LonWorks, AK-LonWorks, AS-i Bus, Interbus, PROFISafe, OPC DA, OPC UA) using manual/automation testing techniques. Experience in preparing product verification/validation test plans Experience in preparing test scenarios, test cases. Ability to read and interpret software architecture and design diagrams. Experience in using the protocol testing/analyzer tools for testing protocols (Wireshark, Modscan, Modbus Conformance Tool, Profibus Analyzer…). Strong knowledge of Industrial Communication Protocol standards (ODVA, OPC, EPSG, ProfiDrive… etc) Experience in doing defect management. In-depth knowledge of Fieldbus communication protocols. Strong knowledge about Industrial Automation Customer Applications. Strong knowledge of PLC, DCS Hardware and Software (Siemens/Allen Bradley/BECKHOFF/B&R/ABB/Schneider/Honeywell/Yokogawa, Foxboro… etc) In-depth knowledge and experience in IEC 61131 PLC Programming Languages. Strong knowledge about Variable Frequency Drives and its applications. Strong understanding of software product development life cycle. Strong understanding of software testing life cycle. Experience in Software Development using V Model process.

Nice to have competencies:

Experience in automation testing using National Instruments Software/Hardware products or any other test automation software. Ability to deliver the test automation needs in embedded product development environment. Experience in designing automation test framework and implementing it. Experience in executing the automation test suites created using the automation test tools. Experience in Software Development using Agile Scrum methodology. Experience in Python programming language.
