Job Title: Sr Software Engineer (Merchandising Systems)

(This position is Hybrid working 2 days a week in the SBH Support Center currently located in Denton Texas and moving to Plano in mid Fall)

Essential Function
Sally Beauty Holdings runs the following Blue Yonder systems to drive its merchandising/planning/inventory functions, PMM, SCPO and CATMAN. The person will have a deep knowledge and experience working with Blue Yonder enterprise merchandising systems OR any other ORACLE retail systems. The individual will work in a team responsible for Solution Design and Delivery that will include deployment of new functionality or changes to existing processes to meet the changing needs of our business. 

The individual will have a good understanding of technical architecture, database architecture and data flows and will be a proven mentor who is able to work effectively cross-functionally with technical and non-technical teams and will quickly develop an advanced understanding of business requirements and how technology fits those needs.

Primary Duties

Provides technical leadership and oversight for solution delivery flow (Business requirements validation, Solution delivery planning).Assist in the development of conceptual systems architecture design and supporting technologies needed to enable new and enhanced functionality within the Blue Yonder suite of applications.Provides technical expertise in establishing specific coding standards, patterns, and procedures.Identifies technical dependencies across several product and application teams to support the implementation of new or enhanced functionality.Supervises system and data analysis, and the development and preparation of technical documentation by Systems Analysts on products and applications to understand functional design requirements.Collaborates with Systems Analysts to decompose solution blueprints and designs into detailed technical requirements.Collaborates with Solution Architects, Product management, and delivery teams to reconcile user needs and requirements within given engineering constraints.Identifies high-level requirements to support the definition and refinement of a robust testing strategy, and supports the planning and execution of functional and non-functional testing activities (performance, fail-over, etc.).Defines remediation tactics for large and complex defects impacting several features and/or capabilities within a given product or application.Supports release planning activities.Provides active support for business-critical outage situations.

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

5+ years working in a Retail/Omni channel environment.5+ years’ functional design and technical design experience with large-scale Retail Applications. Blue Yonder is preferred.Good understanding of integration patterns, concepts and best practices.Proven ability to work effectively and produce consistent results with a minimal supervision.Proven ability to effectively mentor less experienced team members on design, data mapping, programming and testing techniques.Strong conceptual, analytical, problem-solving, decision making, troubleshooting and resolution skills.Strong written and verbal communication skills.Demonstrates a positive attitude, is self-motivated, responsible, conscientious, and detail oriented.Good understanding of corporate IT policies, procedures and standards.Proven experience delivering cloud technology solutions.

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements

The work environment involves everyday risks or discomforts which require normal safety precautions typical of such places as offices, meeting and training rooms, retail stores, and residences or commercial vehicles, e.g., use of safe work practices with office equipment, avoidance of trips and falls, observance of fire regulations and traffic signals, etc. The work area is adequately lighted, heated, and ventilated.

The work is sedentary. Typically, the employee may sit comfortably to do the work. However, there may be some walking; standing; bending; carrying of light items such as papers, files, books, small parts; using a keyboard, driving an automobile, etc. No special physical demands are required to perform the work.
