Our Loyalty platforms enable many of Amex’smost critical customer differentiators including the flagship Membership Rewardsprogram, and we are constantly seeking new ways to offer value to our customers and drivegrowth for the company.

We are looking for an innovative, experienced, and talented senior software engineer tojoin our API domain team. You will work closely with our product and development teamsto develop new system capabilities at scale and optimize existing capabilities.As part of the Benefit Experience team, you will be responsible for building and launchingnew exciting benefits for card members. You will also be responsible for building thereuseable capabilities using the core components that make up our modern microserviceplatform, driving performance and resiliency, as we scale to take over our classicapplications.

Minimum Qualifications:

4–5 years of professional experience in backend development

Strong proficiency in Golang.

Experience in application design, software development, and testing, in an Agile environment.

Experience with relational and NoSQL databases, Cassandra, Google Spanner, and PostgreSQL.

Experience designing and developing REST APIs for high volume clients and gRPC services. Experience with continuous integration tools & container orchestration technologies (e.g. Docker and Kubernetes).

Experience with version control systems like Git.

Experience working with asynchronous messaging systems like Kafka.Experience with Atlassian software development and collaboration tools (JIRA, Confluence, etc.), a plus.

Knowledge of system observability, monitoring, and logging tools

Exposure to CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices

Position requires a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.

Preferred Additional:

Knowledge of financial industry

Experience with cloud platforms (GCP, AWS)

Good understanding of microservices architecture and distributed systems

Strong problem-solving and analytical skills

Experience with open-source frameworks is a plus – especially maintaining or contributing to open-source projects.

Ability to effectively communicate with internal and external business partners.
