Senior Software Engineer – Guided Study Pearson Learning Studio Pearson Learning Studio is looking for a Senior Software Engineer / Advanced Specialist to join the Guided Study team and help build AI-powered learning experiences at scale. This role is ideal for a strong full-stack engineer with hands-on experience in modern web development and practical exposure to AI systems such as LLM integrations and Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG). You will work closely with the Principal Engineer and cross-functional teams to deliver intelligent, scalable features that improve student outcomes. Key Responsibilities Full-Stack Development + Design, develop, and maintain scalable web applications using: + ReactJS (frontend) + Java and/or Python (backend) + SQL-based databases + Build clean APIs and ensure smooth frontend-backend integration. + Write maintainable, well-tested, production-ready code. AI Feature Implementation + Integrate at least one Large Language Model (LLM) into application workflows. + Implement and optimize RAG pipelines under architectural guidance. + Apply practical prompt engineering techniques to improve output quality. + Work with vector stores and embeddings as part of AI-driven features. Collaboration & Delivery + Participate actively in Agile/Scrum ceremonies. + Collaborate with Product, UX, and Data teams to translate requirements into technical solutions. + Contribute to technical design discussions and propose improvements. + Troubleshoot and resolve production issues with ownership and urgency. Required Qualifications + 6–8 years of experience in software development. + Strong hands-on experience in: 1. ReactJS 2. Java and/or Python 3. SQL + Experience integrating or working with: 1. At least one LLM 2. Prompt engineering 3. Basic RAG concepts and implementation + Solid understanding of REST APIs and distributed systems fundamentals. + Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. + Effective communication and collaboration skills. + Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field. Preferred Qualifications + Experience deploying AI-powered applications in production. + Familiarity with vector databases. + Exposure to cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP). + Experience in EdTech or content-driven platforms. _This is a hybrid work setup, where the candidate will be required to work three days onsite at our Hoboken office._ _Applications will be accepted through February 10.
