We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Software Engineer to join our team and contribute to the development of advanced software applications for complex systems.
This position is located in our Fairfax, VA office; however, a hybrid working model is acceptable.
As a Senior Software Engineer at CGI Federal, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining Linux-based software applications for large and complex systems involving custom hardware. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure the delivery of high-quality software solutions that meet client requirements. Key responsibilities include:
. Develop Linux-based software applications using C, C++, and Java for complex systems.
. Design and implement Linux GUI applications using Gtk3+.
. Develop and manage MySQL and MariaDB databases.
. Create multi-threaded applications for Linux environments.
. Develop Java and Apache Tomcat-based web services.
. Implement JSON-based messaging for application communication.
. Interface with devices using Linux USB and SCSI protocols.
. Utilize postscript protocol for direct printing to devices using scripts.
. Apply knowledge of CI/CD, security, and software lifecycle management.
. Debug and resolve issues using debuggers and analysis of log files and events.
. Develop Linux shell scripts for automation and system management.
. Understand Linux system architecture, modules, and kernel.
. Create and deploy software RPM packages across systems.
. Develop applications that interface with third-party systems using REST or other APIs.
. 10+ years of progressive experience in developing Linux-based software applications for large and complex systems.
. Extensive knowledge of Fedora Linux application development using C, C++, and Java.
. Experience in Linux GUI development using Gtk3+.
. Proficient in MySQL and MariaDB database development.
. Strong background in Linux multi-threaded application development.
. Experience in Java and Apache Tomcat-based web services development.
. Familiarity with JSON-based messaging and Linux USB/SCSI protocols.
. Experience with postscript protocol for direct device printing.
. Knowledge of CI/CD, security, and software lifecycle management.
. Ability to debug issues using debuggers and log file analysis.
CGI is required by law in some jurisdictions to include a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role. The determination of this range includes various factors not limited to skill set, level, experience, relevant training, and licensure and certifications. To support the ability to reward for merit-based performance, CGI typically does not hire individuals at or near the top of the range for their role. Compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range for this role in the U.S. is $89,600.00 - $218,200.00.
