Senior Software Engineer

The ideal candidate has outstanding design, coding and management skills, passion to tackle challenging web-design problems and a desire to shape the cloud business as it adjusts with the Artificial Intelligence (AI). As a Senior Software Engineer in the Azure Portal team, you will build features for the Azure Portal. Each day we build on our values of respect, integrity, and accountability to create a culture of inclusion where everyone can thrive at work and beyond. **Responsibilities** + Guides partnership with appropriate stakeholders (e.g., project manager, technical lead) to determine user requirements within and across teams. + Guides teams and leads identification of dependencies and the development of design documents for a product, application, service, or platform. + Optimizes, debugs, refactors, and reuses code to improve performance and maintainability, effectiveness, and return on investment (ROI). + Continuously evaluates fundamentals (performance, reliability, accessibility, etc.) to identify gaps and potential mitigations. + Regularly reviews code, maintains a high standard for code quality, and implements processes to improve overall code quality across the team. **Qualifications** **Required Qualifications:** + Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 4+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python + OR equivalent experience. + 3+ years of professional software development experience. + 2+ years experience leading at least one product from conception to launch. **Other Requirements:** + Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:  + Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud Background Check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter. **Preferred Qualifications:** + Bachelor's Degree in Computer ScienceOR related technical field AND 8+ years technical engineering + OR equivalent experience. + 1+ year(s) of solid development and testing skills, and possess the ability to be productive and effective in a highly collaborative environment. + 1+ years(s) of proficiency for languages and tools like TypeScript, ES6/ECMAScript 2015, Promises. + 1+ year(s) of experience with technologies like Single Page Applications (SPAs), JavaScript Object Notation (JSON), Asynchronous JavaScript and XML (AJAX), and Git. + 1+ year(s) of prior work experience with Microsoft Azure (or other cloud services) and Representational State Transfer Application Programming Interfaces (REST APIs). + 3+ years professional web development experience Software Engineering IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $119,800 - $234,700 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $158,400 - $258,000 per year.
