Senior Software Engineer

Leidos is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to support the Integrated Threat Warning Laboratory (ITWL) at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base. As the lead developer for the Hardware in the Loop (HITL) sensor testing environment, you will play a key role in advancing the lab’s capabilities to evaluate cutting-edge missile & laser warning systems. This position requires hands-on software development and close coordination with government customers and technical teams supporting critical Department of Defense initiatives.

Please note: Candidate must be willing and able to work 100% on-site.

Primary Responsibilities

Maintain and evolve the ITWL’s primary hardware-in-the-loop (HITL) system for electro-optical sensor evaluationModernize system architecture using object-oriented design principles and current C++ standardsDesign and develop scientific and control software in C++, C, Matlab®, and PythonIntegrate and troubleshoot hardware APIs and vendor device interfacesSupport sensor testing, data acquisition, and research and development (R&D) efforts through custom application developmentImplement TCP/IP Winsocket client/server communication for Ethernet-based control systemsDocument designs and conduct software testing to ensure quality and reliabilityCollaborate with technical leads and customers to refine requirements and deliver project milestonesOperate independently and contribute to a small, focused development teamWork fully on-site at Hangar 4B on Wright-Patterson AFB

Basic Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or related technical field with 8+ years of relevant experience or Master's degree with 6+5+ years of software development experience, including:Proficiency in C++ with object-oriented programming (inheritance, polymorphism)Experience with C for hardware and API integrationKnowledge of TCP/IP networking and socket-based communicationFamiliarity with development environments such as Embarcadero C++ Builder or Microsoft Visual StudioStrong attention to detail and problem-solving skillsExcellent communication and interpersonal abilitiesMust be a U.S. citizen and able to obtain a DoD Secret clearanceWilling and able to work 100% on-site

Preferred Qualifications

Active DoD Secret clearanceExperience with Matlab® and Python for scientific or data-driven programmingKnowledge of optical or electro-optical systemsUnderstanding of the software development lifecycle, including design, implementation, and testing phasesExperience supporting R&D environments or test laboratories

Pay Range:Pay Range $104,650.00 - $189,175.00
