Your responsibilities will encompass the design and implementation of innovative features, fine-tuning and sustaining existing code for optimal performance, and guaranteeing top-notch quality through rigorous testing and debugging. Collaboration is at the heart of what we do, and you’ll be working closely with fellow developers, designers, and product managers to ensure our software aligns seamlessly with user expectations. Responsibilities: * Application Development: Develop and maintain applications using Java in alignment with business requirements. Ensure high performance and scalability of applications * Containerization: Utilize containerization technologies (e.g., Docker) to deploy and manage applications and databases in a containerized environment * Database Design and Development: Design, develop, and maintain SQL Server databases. Optimize database performance, including query tuning and indexing * Legacy Systems: FoxPro knowledge is an asset * Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including analysts, architects, and other developers, to deliver high-quality solutions * Troubleshooting and Support: Diagnose and resolve database and application-related issues promptly. Provide technical support and mentorship to junior developers. **Required technical and professional expertise** * Deep experience (10+ years) as a Java developer * In depth knowledge of popular Java frameworks, in particular JDBC/ODBC * Excellent understanding of object-oriented design principles, with a focus on software architecture and design patterns * Good experience developing and utilising RESTful services * Advanced SQL query writing and optimization skills * Experience with other programming languages, such as Go and Rust are a bonus. **Preferred technical and professional experience** * Proven technical leadership and mentoring experience * Experience with version control systems (e.g., Git) * Excellent problem-solving abilities and attention to detail * Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders IBM is committed to creating a diverse environment and is proud to be an equal-opportunity employer.
