Position Description:

As CGI continues to grow its Blockchain and Digital Asset practice, we are seeking senior technical leaders to drive the development of secure, scalable, and compliant digital asset platforms.

We are seeking a Senior Software Developer – Blockchain / Smart Contract Development (10+ years of experience) to lead the design and implementation of enterprise-grade digital asset lifecycle solutions, including issuance, settlement, custody, and servicing. This is a permanent full-time position, working five days onsite from our Halifax, NS or Moncton, NB office.

Your future duties and responsibilities:

• Lead the architecture, design, and implementation of smart contracts across Ethereum (EVM) and Solana ecosystems.
• Define best practices for Solidity, Rust, and Move smart contract development.
• Oversee smart contract testing strategies, security reviews, and audit readiness.
• Design deployment, upgrade, and operational strategies for blockchain platforms.
• Collaborate with architects, product owners, and business stakeholders to define technical roadmaps.
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior and intermediate engineers.
• Ensure solutions align with enterprise security, compliance, and performance requirements.
• Contribute to continuous improvement of development standards and tooling.

Required qualifications to be successful in this role:

• 10+ years of professional software development experience, including deep expertise in blockchain and smart contract engineering.
• Advanced knowledge of Solidity, EVM internals, and ERC standards.
• Proven experience designing and deploying solutions on Solana and/or using Rust / Move.
• Strong understanding of digital asset lifecycle platforms, including issuance, settlement, custody, and servicing.
• Extensive experience with Hardhat, Foundry, and enterprise-grade deployment workflows.
• Deep familiarity with smart contract security, audits, and threat modeling.
• Strong backend engineering background using TypeScript / JavaScript or Python.
• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.

Bonus Skills
• Experience leading blockchain initiatives in financial services or regulated environments.
• Knowledge of multisig governance, key management, and custody solutions.
• Experience with CI/CD, DevSecOps, and cloud-native architectures.
• Strong stakeholder communication and technical leadership skills.

CGI is providing a reasonable estimate of the pay range for this role. The determination of this range includes factors such as skill set level, geographic market, experience and training, and licenses and certifications. Compensation decisions depend on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range is $75,000–$145,000. This role is a future opportunity.
