KEY ACTIVITIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

As a Senior Simulator Technician, you are accountable for:

Supervising a team of technicians to operate and maintain the supported equipment as directed by the Maintenance Manager.Ensuring that the supported equipment is maintained in accordance with the manufacturers’ guidelines.Coordinating corrective maintenance as and when required.Maintaining tools and test equipment, and ensuring that equipment is in calibration.Maintaining records and documentation.Managing compliance against relevant Thales and customer prescribed standards and processes.Developing and instructing maintenance courses as required.Acting and undertaking duties as a Self Certifying Maintainer (SCM) when authorised.Co-ordinating spares and repairs to ensure that the supported equipment meets contracted availability requirements.Maintaining a sound working relationship with the customer and other relevant stakeholders.Proactively identifying issues and solutions, keeping the Maintenance Manager informed of progress.

KEY KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE                                                    

To be successful in your role, you will have demonstrated and/or acquired the following knowledge and experience:

Qualifications in Avionics, Electronics, Computer IT or similar fields.Minimum of 5 years experience as a Simulator Technician or related fields.Experience in a technical workshop or maintenance environment.Supervisory skills.Customer relationship management.Experience with simulation projects preferably in a Defence context.

GOOD TO KNOW
Prior to being offered employment, you will need to complete pre-employment police and (role dependent) medical checks. A Defence security clearance is required for this role; applicants must be Australian citizens and eligible to obtain and maintain an appropriate clearance.

In some cases, individuals who hold a current clearance from a foreign government may be eligible to have this clearance recognised by the Australian Government and be eligible for this role.

The Australian Defence Trade Controls Act (DTCA) is applicable and as such, your nationality may be a factor in determining your suitability for this role. The U.S. International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and/or Export Administration Regulations (EAR) are applicable and as such, your nationality may be a factor in determining your suitability for this role.
