ADM, a global leader in human and animal nutrition and the world’s premier agricultural origination and processing company, has an opening for a Senior Scientist R&D ingredient delivery systems at our Research center located in Erlanger, Kentucky.
 
We are looking for a highly motivated senior scientist to lead ingredient delivery system research. The successful candidate will assume responsibility in a central leadership position within ADM research. She/He will lead the design and the execution of the global ingredient delivery system pipeline for flavors, colors, health/wellbeing ingredients etc, in alignment with business growth ambition. This position will report to the Director R&D flavors, colors and delivery technologies.

Job purpose
In this role, the Sr Scientist will propose and lead ingredient delivery R&D projects to develop new and/or improved solutions including emulsions and encapsulation systems in alignment with business goals.
This role requires proven track record of strong R&D expertise and successful development of ingredient delivery systems from bench to larger scale.
The Sr Scientist will provide key input to our ingredient strategy through horizon scanning and evaluation of emerging technical solutions and capabilities in the delivery technology innovation space.
The incumbent will also play a key role in sharing technical knowledge across the organization and mentoring other colleagues.

Job responsibilitiesPlan, organize and execute research and development projects to explore and develop new and/or improved natural ingredient delivery systems for colors, flavors, health/wellbeing ingredients etc aligned with business ambition and in compliance with our stage gate project management process.Lead a global project team. Identify technical gaps and participate in the identification of potential opportunities in the ingredient delivery innovation space in partnership with Business, Product Development, Regulatory, Procurement etc.Horizon-scan and evaluate emerging ingredient delivery solutions, recommend and build relevant technical capabilities. Identify potential intellectual property.Responsible for R&D lab and pilot plant delivery system equipment needed for day-to-day operations and workplace safety. Make recommendations for capital project investment. Comply with local trainings and safety documentation.Contribute to culture of excellent communication, information sharing, collaboration and relationships within and outside R&D.Provide input and guidance to team members regarding lab procedures and techniques. Mentor and upskill other colleagues.Job specifications/qualificationsPhD. and 5+ years or Masters and 8+ years of industry experience in Physical Chemistry, Chemistry, Chemical engineering, Material Science, Food Science or related fieldsStrong knowledge of flavor and color delivery systems and process technologies in food and beverage applicationsProven experience in project management including the development of ingredient delivery technologies from ideation/benchtop to production scaleKnowledge of Regulatory bodiesProven ability to work independently and collaborate with global teams with strong communication skillsExperience working in accordance with good laboratory practices and adhere to safety standards and practicesAbility to deliver clear, compelling, and effective technical presentations to audiences that include but are not limited to management, commercial teams, customers, research teams and other stakeholdersProficient in standard computer programs (e.g. Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Powerpoint)Excited about this role but don’t think you meet every requirement listed?
