360 Labs Initiative at a Glance

The 360 Labs are a new capability that is currently being built up within the Pharmaceutical Research and Early Development organization (pRED). The primary mission of this effort is to provide greater access and support for the use of cutting-edge biomedical research technologies by scientists across our discovery portfolio.

The 360 Labs will deliver core scientific technologies, expertise and enabling activities, as well as facilitate knowledge sharing in close collaboration with our therapeutic areas and functions. The Opportunity

The Roche Cell & Organoid Biorepository within the 360 Labs Initiative is seeking an experienced Senior Scientist to contribute to our mission of disrupting the traditional drug discovery process by advancing more predictive human model systems. The successful candidate will oversee all aspects of our cell line and organoid biorepository whilst having a proven track record in  driving innovation in biobanking capabilities. You will work with a sense of urgency as a part of a matrix team, collaborating with specialists from each of our therapeutic disease areas and functions to establish cutting-edge workflows for organoid generation, expansion, banking and molecular profiling to propel early drug discovery projects forward. Your contributions will be instrumental in advancing the capabilities of the Roche Cell & Organoid Biorepository within the pRED organization.

Your Role and Responsibilities

You will lead the development and maintenance of cell banks and complex in vitro models (cIVMs), drive advancements in cell banking, organoid storage, and biobanking workflows, and oversee specimen lifecycle management, including acquisition, processing, storage, and distribution;

You will oversee contamination testing, cell line authentication, and advanced QC processes while ensuring adherence to SOPs, regulatory guidelines, and ethical standards for stem cell and organoid research;

You will develop and standardize protocols for isolating and culturing diverse cell types, and implement high-throughput workflows to scale organoid production and enhance operational efficiency;

You will work with internal and external stakeholders to advance projects, communicate complex concepts to multidisciplinary teams, and serve as a mentor and leader, fostering collaboration, continuous improvement, and team development.

Who you are

You hold a PhD in biology, life sciences, or a related field, with at least 3-5 years research experience stem cell biology, organoids, or complex in vitro models, either in an academic setting, or in the pharmaceutical industry / biotech sector;

You have extensive experience in cell culture, organoid differentiation, tissue processing, and biobanking workflows;

You have a proven ability to lead teams, innovate processes, and manage biobanking systems in a fast-paced, diverse and heterogeneous environment.
