**We are searching for the best talent for a Senior Scientist, Global Investigative Pathobiology** **to be onsite in Spring House, PA.**
**Purpose:**
We are seeking a highly motivated Senior Scientist to join our global network of Investigative Pathobiology laboratories as the Scientific Lead in Spring House, PA. The Senior Scientist will work collaboratively with stakeholders across Preclinical Sciences and Translational Safety and Therapeutic Areas to ensure maximal scientific value of all internal in vivo studies, contribute to high quality necropsy and histology specimen preparation, and have a forward looking perspective to identify areas for pathology lab innovation, especially through the lens of 3Rs and increased use of new alternative methodologies (NAM) to assess nonclinical safety across the pharmaceutical industry.
**You will be responsible for** **:**
+ Provide local scientific leadership to internal projects, in collaboration with the Target Pathologists and PSTS teams
+ Serve as the local Investigative Pathobiology point of contact/interface for stakeholders involved with discovery pharmacology, investigative toxicology, and specialty studies (e.g. Scientific and In Vivo Sciences (SIS), Therapeutic Areas)
+ Serve as the local representative on the Global Investigative Pathobiology leadership team to align global processes, optimize workflows, and ensure animal, people, and monetary resources are used efficiently
+ Provide strategic leadership to ensure the investigative pathobiology laboratories evolve capabilities and mindset to meet the future needs of the company
+ Drive C.E.O. (Compete, Execute, Optimize) ways of working such as through critical evaluation of cutting-edge technologies to identify tools that could increase efficiency, work quality, and/or capabilities
+ Communicate project-related deliverables to stakeholders
+ Maintain a high level of compliance with Environmental Health & Safety (EH&S) and DDI (Discovery and Data Integrity) standards
**Qualifications / Requirements:**
**Education:**
+ Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree is required
+ MS or PhD in toxicology, pathology, biology, medicine or related biomedical field is highly preferred
**Required:**
+ Minimum 4-6 years of experience in the pharmaceutical/biotech/CRO industry and/or academic setting
+ Experience with tissue sample processing, embedding, sectioning, and staining (H&E, special stains, IHC)
+ Experience with image analysis tools (e.g. Halo)
+ Excellent critical thinking, interpersonal, diplomacy, troubleshooting, and communication skills
+ Highly organized and detail oriented
+ High level of intellectual curiosity and drive
+ Futuristic perspective and insight into the evolving role of pathobiology and histopathology in drug development with an interest in innovative tools to expand capabilities in the landscape of decreasing animal use (e.g. NAMs)
+ Strong leadership skills, change management/agility and potential for growth and to pivot in multiple directions as company needs evolve
**Preferred:**
+ Histotechnologist certification is a plus
+ Experience with all end of in-life study procedures including blood collection, euthanasia methods, necropsy, and standard and specialized tissue collection
