Senior Safety Advisor

Airswift is looking for a Senior Safety Advisor to work with one of our major clients in Houston, TX 

Primary Purpose

Plans and implements organizational safety and technical training programs to ensure a safe working environment and a technically skilled workforce. Verifies compliance with health and safety regulations and ensures all necessary records are maintained and prepared according to established guidelines. Develops and administers programs to ensure technical personnel are able to effectively, efficiently and safely accomplish assigned duties and responsibilities.

Duties and Responsibilities

Develops, coordinates and conducts training classes, field training and certification testing or evaluation. Conducts or coordinates audits for adherence to safety standards and investigates safety complaints, incidents, and Worker's Compensation claims and prepares reports on results of inspections and investigations for management analysis. Researches and monitors OSHA and DOT (PHMSA inclusive) regulations to ascertain standards applicable to operations and develops and implements policies, procedures and programs to ensure workplace compliance with health and safety, company drivers and Operator Qualification legislation. Maintains training records for all company employees related to safety and technical training in addition to associated safety department records to maintain compliance with regulatory and company record retention requirements; prepares statistical reports to track training compliance, evaluate training content, performance of instructors and monitor progress of trainees. Manages and administers the utilization and training of business application programs relative to Operator Qualification, material safety data sheets and new utilization opportunities within the programs; supports administration of associated safety programs related to company drivers and worker’s compensation. Manages and administers company’s Contractor Safety Program to ensure compliance with health and safety, Operator Qualification, and other regulatory and procurement requirements. Participates in peer review programs and assists with sharing of best practices to ensure company is performing in accordance with regulations and policies. Performs other duties as assigned (no more than 5% of duties).

Education

Bachelor’s degree in environmental, occupational health, or other relevant discipline or the equivalent combination of education, experience and/or training required.

Experience

5+ years of applicable Health, Safety and Security related experience required.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Knowledge of national safety standards and all related Federal, State and Local laws and ordinances. Knowledge of the principles and methods of safety operations, equipment used and materials handled in the employing jurisdiction or the ability to readily acquire such knowledge. Knowledge of principles and methods for curriculum and training design, and the measurement of training effects. Knowledge of general business and management processes. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships at all levels of the organization, the public and outside safety-related agencies. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from employees and management. Ability to determine tasks, priorities and goals and to lead others to accomplish work activities. Ability to handle confidential information and sensitive situations in a professional manner. Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions. Ability to read, write, analyze and interpret work-related documents.
