Capital One is seeking an energetic, self-motivated Senior Risk Manager for the International Risk Program within the Operational Risk Management second line of defense. The International Risk team is a dedicated group of risk professionals responsible for overseeing and effectively challenging Capital One’s international business activities, including our non-US products, services, offshore associates and contractors, and facilities to manage our international risk exposure

We are looking for a Senior Risk Manager for  the governance of our International Risk Program. This role is focused on the critical governance body that oversees our international operations. You will be responsible for building the roadmap for these councils, driving the high-level analysis that informs their decisions, and ensuring that our international strategy is backed by deep political, social, and economic insights.

Key Responsibilities

Roadmap & Milestones: Develop and maintain a detailed timeline of key milestones from the initial program rollout to inaugural Country and Regional Council meetings.

Meeting Preparation: Lead all prep-work for inaugural meetings, including the aggregation of key data inputs, in-country risk activities, and global insights

Council Structure: Define selection criteria for Council Chairs and members; maintain the official directory of all Country/Regional Chairs and global memberships

Training & Enablement: Develop and circulate comprehensive briefing packs and training materials to ensure Council members are equipped to execute their governance duties

Content Leadership: Drive the development of all council materials, ensuring agendas are strategic, data-driven, and focused on high-priority risks

Country Activity Overviews: Provide regular reporting on all country exposures, relevant country changes, and cross-LOB implications

Ongoing PMO Support: Provide continuous project management support for the International Risk function, ensuring all governance obligations are met on schedule

Basic Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree or military experience

At least 5 years of experience in Risk Management or Strategic Consulting

At least 5 years of experience in Project Management, specifically managing governance routines.

Experience developing and presenting materials for Executive Committees or Senior Management Committees

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in Country Risk within a global financial institution

Advanced degree in International Relations, Macroeconomics, or a related field

The minimum and maximum full-time annual salaries for this role are listed below, by location. Please note that this salary information is solely for candidates hired to perform work within one of these locations, and refers to the amount Capital One is willing to pay at the time of this posting. Salaries for part-time roles will be prorated based upon the agreed upon number of hours to be regularly worked.

McLean, VA: $177,700 - $202,800 for Sr. Risk Manager

Candidates hired to work in other locations will be subject to the pay range associated with that location, and the actual annualized salary amount offered to any candidate at the time of hire will be reflected solely in the candidate’s offer letter.

This role is also eligible to earn performance based incentive compensation, which may include cash bonus(es) and/or long term incentives (LTI). Incentives could be discretionary or non discretionary depending on the plan.
