The Nike Sport Research Lab (NSRL) is a multidisciplinary team of researchers, innovators, and scientists who lead with science to make athletes* measurably better. We deliver proven insights and state-of-the-art capabilities to drive the future of Nike products and services. The Field Research team in the NSRL studies athletes* as they move outside of the Lab, in their daily lives and environments.
WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR
We’re looking for a passionate Senior Researcher to help plan and execute large scale field research studies aimed at delivering proven insights that inform the development of innovative products and services. The successful candidate needs to be a versatile and creative thinker and possess deep experience combining human movement science with wearable sensors and data. Understanding of signal processing, algorithm development, and machine learning preferred. Strong organizational and communication skills, coupled with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously are essential. A candidate with exposure to industry research and the running field is strongly preferred.
Master’s degree in Biomechanics, Engineering, Kinesiology, Human Factors or related field. Will accept any suitable combination of education, experience and training2+ years of experience working with wearable sensors and human test subjects in larger-scale deployed settingsDeep understanding of biomechanics, experimental design, and statistical methodsExperience with Python, Databricks, and MATLAB strongly preferredExperience presenting research findings at academic conferences and publishing in peer-reviewed journals.High level of curiosity, initiative, and ability to perform tasks independentlyWHAT YOU’LL WORK ON
If this is you, you will work as part of a diverse team to execute large scale field research studies that aid in the development of innovative products and services for athletes* around the world. You’ll partake in all aspects of the research process including planning, recruiting, study administration, data collection, analysis, and reporting. You’ll aid in the development of new tools, methods, and procedures that streamline data acquisition and unlock new areas of research. You’ll become a resident expert on sensor technologies and analysis tools. You will elevate NSRL science through attendance at scientific meetings, publications, and presentations. As part of your day-to-day activities, you will:
Partner with scientists in the Nike Sport Research Lab, digital technology and engineering teams, data scientists, consumer insights experts, and innovation teamsReport to the Director of Field Research and work under the direction of Principal and Lead researchers on the Field Research team to design and carry out research studies.Interact with athletes both in-person and remotely to capture data and troubleshoot issuesConduct data analysis, generate research reports, and communicate results to stakeholdersIdeate, explore, and refine novel ideas that may unlock future athlete benefitsWe offer a number of accommodations to complete our interview process including screen readers, sign language interpreters, accessible and single location for in-person interviews, closed captioning, and other reasonable modifications as needed.
