**Responsibilities**
Independently sets up and performs experiments and procedures in support of lab goals and grant commitments (e.g. assays, cell/tissue culture, animal studies, etc.). Contributes to the planning, design and modification of studies and experiments in the research lab setting. Monitors results, reports unusual outcomes and suggests modifications. Collects, enters, summarizes, and analyzes data. May oversee and assist with the training of residents, fellows and temporary lab personnel in lab techniques. Works with minimal supervision and performs assignments independently as discussed and approved by Principal Investigator.

The Horbinski Lab is dedicated to advancing brain tumor research through innovative preclinical modeling of gliomas and meningiomas, as well as developing cutting-edge molecular biomarkers from both tissue and liquid biopsies. We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Research Technologist to join our team.
Key Responsibilities
The Senior Research Technologist will serve as a specialist in molecular biology, leading projects involving advanced genomic and epigenomic assays while also contributing expertise in animal models. This hybrid skillset will make the individual a key resource for bridging bench-based molecular work with preclinical modeling.

+ **Molecular Biology Leadership**
+ Lead biomarker studies requiring advanced sequencing technologies.
+ Prepare sequencing libraries for whole genome, methylation, and RNA-based assays.
+ Drive adoption and optimization of emerging platforms, including **Nanopore sequencing** .
+ Ensure quality control and reproducibility across molecular experiments.
+ **Animal Model Support**
+ Apply hands-on experience with mice, including handling, injections, and monitoring for tumor xenograft studies.
+ Assist with in vivo experimental design and contribute to **IACUC protocol preparation** .
+ Collaborate with in vivo specialists to integrate animal studies with molecular analyses.
+ **Mentorship & Collaboration**
+ Train and supervise Research Technologists in both molecular and animal techniques.
+ Work closely with the Principal Research Technologist and PI to align molecular biology efforts with overall research goals.
+ Contribute to troubleshooting, data interpretation, and the development of new protocols.
***This is a limited tenure position that has been approved for one year that may have the possibility of turning into a regular position.**

**Qualifications**
Requires bachelor's degree in biology, chemistry, or other relevant science with 4 years of research laboratory experience.
Master's degree in biology, chemistry, or other relevant science preferred.
**Additional Preferred Qualifications and Experience:**
+ Degree in molecular biology, genetics, cancer biology, or a related field. (Masters preferred)
+ Strong track record of hands-on experience in sequencing library preparation and other advanced molecular assays.
+ Working knowledge of animal models, including tumor xenografts, with a solid understanding of compliance requirements.
+ Proven ability to mentor junior staff and uphold high standards of accuracy and reproducibility.
+ Excellent problem-solving skills, adaptability, and collaborative mindset.

$66,123.20 - $99,236.80 / yr
Education, experience and tenure may be considered along with internal equity when job offers are extended.
