Position Summary:


We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Senior Research Scientist.

 The Senior Research Scientist provides senior scientific, operational, and supervisory leadership for an expanding portfolio of transplant-focused operations research within the Center for Surgical and Transplant Applied Research (CSTAR). This role is responsible for overseeing the work of research staff , ensuring consistency, rigor, and timely execution across multiple concurrent studies, and serving as a key point of continuity across projects.

Job Responsibilities:

Scientific and Technical Leadership

Provide senior-level oversight of quantitative, statistical, optimization, and simulation based analyses conducted by CSTAR research staff.Guide development and execution of analytic strategies, statistical analysis plans, and modeling approaches across multiple studies.Review and quality-check analytic outputs, code, and documentation to ensure methodological rigor, reproducibility, and adherence to study protocols.Support interpretation of results and contribute to manuscripts, abstracts, presentations, and reports under faculty direction.

Supervisory and Personnel Management

Serve as direct supervisor for research staff.Provide day-to-day guidance, mentoring, and performance feedback; support onboarding, training, and professional development.Assist CSTAR leadership with workload planning, prioritization, and coordination across projects.Participate in hiring, annual reviews, and promotion recommendations in collaboration with department leadership.

Project and Operational Oversight

Oversee execution of multiple concurrent research projects, ensuring milestones and deliverables are met.Serve as a point of escalation for technical or operational issues arising within the research team.Promote consistency in analytic methods, documentation, and best practices across projects.Prepare interim summaries and reports for principal investigators, funders, and oversight bodies as needed.

Collaboration and Grant Support

Interface with faculty investigators to translate research questions into feasible analytic approaches.Collaborate with internal and external research partners, including investigators at other academic institutions.Support grant development and reporting activities for NIH-funded and other sponsored research, including contributing to methods and analytic sections.

Minimum Qualifications:
To qualify you must have a PhD and 3 years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Qualified candidates must be able to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization.

NYU Langone Health provides a salary range to comply with the New York state Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $65,000.00 - $92,820.00 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
