Senior Relationship Manager, Business Continuity Management

To learn more about CIBC, please visit CIBC.com (https://www.cibc.com/en/about-cibc.html) **What You’ll Be Doing** As a Senior Relationship Manager within the Enterprise Business Continuity Management (EBCM) group, you will play a key role in supporting the group’s mandate through both strategic and tactical process initiatives. Your focus will be on assisting CIBC’s Strategic Business Units (SBUs) and Lines of Business (LOBs) in the effective management of business continuity. You will contribute to the development, maintenance, and adherence of an enterprise-wide BCM governance framework that aligns with regulatory requirements and industry best practices and standards. Additionally, you will support the ongoing design, maintenance, and cost effectiveness of the enterprise Crisis Management, Fusion Response, and Business Continuity Management Programs, recognizing the critical importance of managing business interruption risk within CIBC’s operating environments. Your responsibilities will include participating in operational and simulation testing, and in the event of a major business interruption, you will serve as a vital member of the EBCM team, helping to coordinate the Bank’s response and recovery efforts. _At CIBC we enable the work environment most optimal for you to thrive in your role. You’ll have the flexibility to manage your work activities within a hybrid work arrangement where you’ll spend 1-3 days per week on-site, while other days will be remote._ **How You’ll Succeed** + **Program management** - Coordinate and manage the preparation, testing, and maintenance of business continuity plans within the designated business unit and functional group, in accordance with CIBC’s BCM Policy, BCM Standards and Guidelines, and procedures. This includes completing resource dependency analysis for the designated critical business unit and developing alternative BCP strategies for consideration and selection in the formulation of Business Continuity Plans. Provide expert consulting support for the review and documentation of plans, including training in the use of approved BCM templates. + **Operational/Business Effectiveness** - Actively participate as a member of the enterprisebusiness continuity management team in the evolving design of the BCM program to meet CIBC’s recovery needs in the dynamic environments in which it operates. This includes representing the needs of the designated business and functional groups to the central group, ensuring resources are assigned to EBCM as required within designated critical business units, participating in BCM planning and networking sessions, etc. Participate in the design and implementation of corporate simulation exercises, call tree and other forms of exercises, on a global basis as required, to ensure an ongoing capability exists to meet CIBC’s overall recovery objectives. Manage the completion of annual Business Impact (Risk Assessment) and Exposure Minimization Analyses within the business units and functional groups and provides support and challenge to designated business units in the finalization of requirements, including the establishment of recovery objectives, determination of minimum resource requirements, finalization of backup office site arrangements, (either internal or third party), etc. + **Relationship management** - Maintain external relationships by working with other FIs as well as financial industry support groups (e.g., CBA) – to discuss emerging concepts, principles, theories and practices related to business continuity management. Work with people at all levels in the organization from senior business-unit leaders and corporate management to business partners. Expectations would include a hands-on teamwork approach to solving problems, planning, managing change and people related to all aspects of the incident and changes to support business recovery. Provides highly specialized advice and guidance, typically of a high-level tactical nature, to management/senior management (including business leaders/corporate policy makers), and client groups, when dealing with organizational business resilience. + **Business Continuity Management Support** - Undertake key BCM support role to senior management in the event of disaster. Provide crisis management expertise and specific knowledge about the business unit and functional groups their recovery plans; manages specific recovery activities as designated and required. Oversee due diligence through review of requirements and Business Continuity Plans (BCPs); operational testing to confirm the adequacy of BCPs to meet designated recovery objectives; also participates in the verification of key service provided / third party recovery capabilities. Utilize expert knowledge of best practices in BCM to affect skills transfer to critical business units in developing effective operational processes and test scenarios. **Who You Are** + **You demonstrate 3-5 years of experience** in program management, preferably within business continuity. + **You understand that success is in the details** . You possess strong project, time, and organizational management – ability to multi-task and deliver on a variety of planned initiatives and strategies, while also responding to unplanned events and issues. Self-motivated, problem-solver/problem manager and “big picture” thinker. Ability to gather, synthesize, organize and interpret data or information and formulate practical conclusions and insights. + **You understand the intricacies of CIBC.** Previous experience in a CIBC line of business such as Retail and Business Banking, Wealth, Capital Markets, Finance, Technology and Operations or other would be an asset. Well-developed understanding of internal control processes. In depth knowledge of risk and regulatory requirements as they apply to BIR. + **You’re a strong communicator-** Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills. Strong influencing, negotiation and conflict resolution skills from a non-authoritative position. + **You’re digitally savvy.** Excellent ability to integrate with multiple business units and corporate governance groups on complex issues. Must demonstrate the ability to influence senior stakeholders in situations that require cooperation and consensus of stakeholders to facilitate the communication and discussion of information/issues/ideas, and the gaining of acceptance and implementation of appropriate solutions. + **You’re a certified professional.** Accreditation and certification in BCM professional practices from the Disaster Recovery Institute (DRI) or Business Continuity Institute (BCI) is considered an asset for this role. + **Values matter to you** .
