Job DescriptionSenior Rail & Transit Program Manager responsible for program management and business development of AECOM’s Greater Pennsylvania Area (GPA) rail market sector. The position will report to the Transit Market Sector Lead in Philadelphia and support local and national rail transit projects and programs.
SUMMARY:
The position includes responsibility for program/project management, team building, staff mentoring, business development, and contributing to preliminary design and final design of rail infrastructure projects including intercity rail, regional/commuter rail, freight rail and high-speed rail throughout the United States. Clients can include Amtrak, SEPTA, an PRT as well as national clients. The successful candidate may be asked to serve as an AECOM team and/or discipline lead, project manager and/or technical leader on selected projects and will coordinate, cooperate, and work collaboratively with others within multiple AECOM regions and disciplines.

Manage projects of all sizes and complexitiesManage large interdisciplinary teams and provide oversite on the preparation of design drawings and documents, technical specifications, cost estimates, proposals, calculations, and studies associated with transit projects.Provide the organization with technical leadership and strategic direction for program delivery at a regional level.Advocate for ethical and safe working practices.Contributes to innovation in program management approaches and methodology to achieve marketplace differentiation. Client development and marketing through client visits, tracking industry opportunities, proposal preparation and identifying new clients and industry partners.Display technical competence in many elements of rail and transit engineering.Recommend appropriate actions to ensure compliance with all clients, local, state and federal regulations including AREMA railway standards and other applicable US standards.Exercise judgment on details of work in making preliminary selections and adaptations of engineering alternatives.Perform project work as well as serve as a technical leader.Develop staff and facilitate team growth.Perform site investigations and walk-downs and to help clients identify solutions.Travel nationally and internationally as needed to all AECOM, partner, and client office locations, including project offices. Travel is expected to be limited.QualificationsMinimum Requirements:
BA/BS plus 10 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education, including 2 years of leadershipProfessional Engineering (PE) LicenseExperience in the execution and task leadership of design calculations, plan development, specifications and technical report writingPreferred Skills/Experience:
15 years of transit engineering experience.Excellent analytical and problem-solving skillsExperience with Amtrak, SEPTA, PRT, MTA, MBTA, and other relevant agenciesExperience in design/build and other alternative delivery projectsexperience in writing technical papers and technical presentationsExperience technical studiesLeadership positions held on professional societies or technical committeesExperience in providing technical trainingExperience in writing project proposals and delivery of oral presentations for purpose of business developmentAbility to design with constructability in mind throughout all steps of design processStrategic thinking with the ability to foresee and be willing to advance long term goal achievement over short term gains, and realization of when a choice between the two is appropriateSelf-motivator able and willing to plan for, and act on risks and opportunities aligned with business goals and aligned within area organizational structureAdditional InformationRelocation assistance is not available for this position.
