WHAT YOU WILL DO

As the Senior Project Manager, you will oversee utilities construction projects from inception to completion, ensuring they meet schedule, specifications, and budget. Your focus will be on safety, quality, cost control, and effective communication with all stakeholders.

In this role you will:

Lead assigned projects to achieve cost, schedule, quality, safety, and contract performance goalsDefine project objectives, policies, and performance standards in alignment with company and contract requirementsBuild and maintain strong relationships with clients, consultants, subcontractors, suppliers, and internal teamsDevelop and manage construction schedules and milestonesMonitor, report, and forecast progress, labour productivity, budget, and costsEnsure compliance with HSE regulations, company policies, and contractual obligationsPrepare project estimates and negotiate scope changes as neededDraft and manage contracts, including revisions and additionsEnsure timely completion of monthly cost forecasting, productivity reports, and project documentationIdentify and correct areas of risk within work/contracts/WIPCoordinate materials, equipment, and workforce resources

WHAT YOU BRING TO THE TEAM

A Degree or Diploma in one or more of the following: Construction Project Management Electrical EngineeringCivil Engineering OR Red Seal Electrical Journeyman certificationThe following certifications/designations are considered an asset: P.Eng. designation, PMP designation, Gold Seal Certification, Construction safety certifications10+ years as a Project Manager in the construction industry with a contractorAt least 8-10 years working in the utilities and/or civil industry with direct experience in large-scale electrical projects.Proven experience in estimation, strategic procurement, and negotiationExperience commissioning, integration and applying QA/QC to projectsExperience with medium and high voltage utility work, roadway lighting, traffic signals and substations is considered an assetExperience with P3 and/or design-build projects is considered an assetExperience in WWTP projects is considered an asset

SKILLS, ABILITIES & OTHER REQUIREMENTS

To excel in this role, you should bring a strong mix of technical expertise, leadership, and organizational skills, including:

Contract management and risk identificationConstruction scheduling, planning, and executionAbility to interpret project designs and specifications
Applicable local and provincial labour codesStrong organization and time management skillsDemonstrated leadership abilitiesOrganization, time management, and cross team collaborationTechnical Proficiency in: MS Office Suite, Microsoft Project (required), JD Edwards or an Oracle-based ERP systemKnowledge of Procore Construction Management Software Willing and able to travel to sites around British Columbia (Vancouver, Island, Interior locations primarily) Valid BC Driver’s License

The expected salary range for this role is between $120,000 and $147,000. The starting salary will be determined based on several factors such as the successful candidate’s qualifications, including but not limited to education and experience. Base pay is one component of Black & McDonald’s total rewards package. Total rewards vary by position and may include additional offerings such as group insurance benefits, pension plan, annual discretionary bonus, career development programs, and other HR programs.
