Our expert team in the Kootenay Region specializes in managing contaminated sites through comprehensive site investigation, risk assessment, and customized remediation and risk management plans. We support many sectors across AtkinsRéalis from transportation, infrastructure, water, power & renewables, and many more. In the Kootenay region, there is a strong focus on mine site investigation, remediation and closure planning.
We have one of the most experienced environmental and geosciences engineering consulting teams in Canada and we are seeking a Senior Project Manager, Scientist or Engineer to join our Kootenay team. The successful candidate will bring technical direction and mentoring of staff, strong client management skills and the ability to collaborate with other teams across BC and the rest of Canada.
Site Assessment and Remediation (SAR) Location – Kootenay Region
Your roleThe successful candidate will work with approximately 30 staff across the Kootenay Region and over 100 staff province wide. They will promote collaboration within Environment Practice and with other divisions across AtkinsRéalis. They will provide technical direction and support project execution.
Specific duties related to this position vary depending on level of experience, but are generally as follows:
Senior level project management and technical expertise, including proposal and program development, management of resources, reviewing technical reports, and ensuring client objectives are met.Act as a direct interface between clients and the AtkinsRéalis project team, stakeholders including First Nations and/or regulatory bodies, as appropriate.Provide business development support integrated into projects, establishing relationships with clients, identifying and pursuing opportunities for new projects.Ensure proper implementation and continued use of quality assurance programs and corporate policies and procedures, including Ethics and Compliance.Be a safety leader and embrace behavior-based safety and ensuring all health and safety protocols are followed. About youDiploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Geology, Biology, Chemistry, or Environmental Sciences.Registered as a Professional Engineer in BC, Geologist or Agrologist, or eligible for professional status in any Canadian province is considered an asset.15+ years of progressive environmental consulting experience.Experience living and working in the Kootenay Region or Okanagan, or strong willingness to relocate, and ability to work from one of our offices in Nelson, Cranbrook, Trail or Kelowna.Experience leading multidisciplinary teams, providing mentorship, coaching, technical direction, work planning, and quality control for junior and intermediate staff across multiple office locations.Technical expertise in mining-sector environmental work, including abandoned mine sites, remediation strategies, reclamation planning, or mine closure design would be considered an asset.Solid understanding of the environmental regulator framework including BC Mines Health, Safety and Reclamation Code, the BC Contaminated Sites Regulation etc.Being or having an interest in becoming an Approved Professional would be considered an asset. Expected compensation for this role is (between Pay Range $104,300 - $143,400 annually) (Only Applicable to British Columbia). Base salaries are determined according to several parameters like skills, experience, and potential impact on the role. Internal and external competitiveness are also taken into account in our offers.
