Your Opportunity
Join a Top 10 global design firm in our Commercial and Industrial Buildings practice that provides Architecture, Buildings Engineering, and Interior Design services with a long history and deep commitment to the commercial sector. We are seeking a Project Manager to join our buildings practice.
As a senior contributor on our professional Buildings team, you will work independently to assist clients through the planning and creation of fiscally responsible, cutting edge designs. Your experience ensures that you are quite familiar with construction plans, specifications, estimates and building codes. You will be innovating and creating new prototypes designed with sustainable products with green architecture sensibility as your goals. You will lead the development of integrated design proposals, develop and manage integrated work plans, manage project financials, and coordinate with clients, while leading and mentoring others and collaborating with team members to contribute to the final deliverables as required under instruction from the Project Leader.
Your Key Responsibilities
- Responsible for managing complex tasks on medium to large size projects.
- Plan, organize, and direct the work throughout the life of the project to successfully deliver the project to the client.
- Keep the Principal in Charge informed of progress on project expectations, deadlines, and deliverables and understand the limits of the decision-making responsibilities of the role and respect the boundaries of the Principal in Charge’s responsibilities.
- Lead the client and project team to assure that the project design meets the client budget, schedule, program, and design intent. Participate in client project requirement meetings and value analysis and basic cost estimating.
- In collaboration with the Project Architect this role will lead the technical portion of the project including discipline coordination and providing technical direction to the design team including but not limited to building codes and requirements of other regulatory agencies.
- Assist in the negotiation and development of project agreements.
- Develop and manage project budget, schedule, and overall work plan to realize target financial performance and Participate in constructability reviews along with the design team if needed.
- Mentor Assistant Project Managers and motivate project teams.
- Assure that Project Management Framework tasks are timely completed and properly documented.
- Lead project coordination and owner/site meetings with internal team members and/or external consultants, owner and contractor and sub-contractors.
- In collaboration with the project Architect, manage the construction administration phase with the design team, including but not limited to reviewing shop drawings and submittals, responds to RFIs, prepares site observation reports, and other contract administration tasks.
- Manage and track change orders, applications for payment by contractors and other contractual modifications impacting budget and schedule.
- Conduct quality assurance and quality control on own projects if required
- Participate in constructability review along with the design team if required
- Work with Operations Manager in determining project staffing needs and recommending personnel.
- Directs client invoicing and effectively manages collections.
- Strong Revit skills, familiarity with clash coordination strategies a plus.

Demonstrates a thorough understanding of accessibility codes, life-safety codes, building construction systems, means and methods, materials, and industry-associated standards, ensuring compliance and quality in all phases of design and construction.
- Initiative & Independence
Takes direction well and is highly proactive; able to identify needs and take appropriate action without requiring continuous oversight, contributing to project momentum and team efficiency.
- Time & Priority Management
Skilled in managing multiple deadlines and shifting priorities, maintaining high productivity and quality under pressure while meeting project milestones.
- Collaborative Teamwork
Works effectively as a team player with clients, internal project teams, and contractors, fostering a collaborative environment that supports project success and stakeholder satisfaction.
- Communication & Negotiation
Strong communicator and negotiator, able to articulate ideas clearly, resolve conflicts diplomatically, and advocate for project needs with professionalism and tact.
- Software Proficiency
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and Newforma for project documentation and coordination. Preferred experience with design and drafting tools including Revit, AutoCAD, and SketchUp, supporting efficient and accurate project delivery.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Architecture or related field
- Professional Licensure a plus, but not required
- Minimum of 10 years of experience with a history in industrial, transit or city buildings.
- LEED Green Associate or LEED AP a plus
Typical office environment working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods of time. Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather.

**Pay Range:**
• Locations in WA, DC & Various CA areas - Min Salary $ 119,300.00 - Max Salary $ 179,000.00
**Pay Transparency:** In compliance with pay transparency laws, pay ranges are provided for positions in locations where required. Please note, the final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible.
