Senior Project Manager
Air Swift
Airswift is seeking a Senior Project Manager to work on an initial 1-year assignment with a major player in the energy sector.
Role Overview:
Manages projects and programs typically greater than $10M in total cost, including planning, scheduling, and control of activities independently. Leads project teams of 10+ people and is typically assigned to complex, high-risk, multi-disciplinary projects requiring strong leadership. Establishes priorities and maintains oversight of all aspects within the project scope.
Directs cross-functional teams across multiple disciplines and organizations. Maintains broad knowledge of new technologies and industry trends. Monitors project management processes and recommends improvements. Manages project budgets in close coordination with finance and project controls. Interfaces with other project and line managers. Coaches and mentors other project managers and acts on behalf of supervisors when required.
Principal Accountabilities: Manages project activities for refueling outages, forced outages, and online work. Provides oversight to ensure safety, quality, schedule adherence, and budget control. Oversees all aspects of project implementation, including budget development, parts procurement, work prioritization, risk management, clearance order preparation, and work execution. Develops and tracks budgets and schedules with risk and critical path in mind. Interfaces with internal teams, vendors, engineers, and senior management. Supports long-range planning, self-assessment programs, and corrective actions. May support outage control functions, including participation in the Outage Control Center (OCC). Mentors less experienced project managers. Experience writing complex SQL queries to manage and validate data in test environments.
Required Education and Experience:
PMP certification (active) is required. Bachelor’s degree in engineering, construction/project management, business, or related field and 20+ years of experience in a technical field. OR Associate’s degree with 22+ years of experience. OR High School Diploma/GED with 24+ years of experience. RO/SRO License or internal management certification is required. Advanced degrees may count toward required experience.
Preferred Education and Experience: Advanced degree in business or a related technical field. Construction Management certification. Extensive project or supervisory experience in the commercial nuclear industry (operations, engineering, construction, or maintenance). Experience coordinating nuclear plant production, work prioritization, and execution.
Required Skills: Strong experience managing complex, high-risk projects. Familiarity with human performance improvement methods, and cost-effective work execution. Proficiency with outage planning, online work management, and schedule risk mitigation. Ability to lead diverse, cross-functional teams and mentor others. Capable of presenting to senior management and external stakeholders.
Desired Skills: Management experience and diverse assignment history. Understanding of nuclear codes, regulatory standards, and procedures. Skilled in project management software (e.g., MS Office, Passport). Experience conducting audits or participating in industry committees.
Other Notes: Green Badge Level 2 access required: Includes background screening, FFD testing, and access to areas inside and outside protected plant areas (subject to client approval). Diverse assignment experience (internal or external to the nuclear industry) is considered a plus and may include work in design, QA/QC, military, or start-up roles in highly technical environments.
