Are you a strategic and experienced engineering leader ready to make a significant impact? We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Manager, Project Engineering to lead our Electro-Mechanical Interface Devices (EMIDs) team within the Power & Controls, Engine Control Systems Supplier Designed Equipment Engineering organization.

Based in Windsor Locks, CT, this high-impact leadership role is ideal for a results-driven professional who excels in managing complex engineering programs and developing high-performing teams. You’ll oversee a group of talented project engineers and provide strong technical leadership to guide projects from concept through completion, delivering innovative, high-quality solutions on time and within budget.

In this role, you will also collaborate closely with world-class suppliers to design and manufacture sophisticated electro-mechanical components that support cutting-edge engine programs.

What You Will Do

Lead and provide expert oversight throughout the design process, including in-depth review of engineering drawings and specifications, while actively participating in key design reviews to ensure compliance with internal and industry standards.

Ensure successful execution of system and component requirements by conducting detailed compliance assessments and supporting alignment with quality and regulatory requirements.

Play a key role in verification testing by critically evaluating and formally approving test plans, procedures, and final test reports to confirm product performance.

Oversee qualification testing activities, including review of 36-point checklists, similarity/analysis reports, test configurations, and readiness reviews, while ensuring all test documentation meets required standards.

Support essential manufacturing and process certification efforts, including control build reviews, special process audits, and UPPAP activities to maintain robust production quality.

Collaborate and communicate effectively with engineering teams, business unit leaders, external customers, and key suppliers to ensure alignment and transparency across all project stages.

Contribute to the ongoing development and refinement of engineering standards, such as standard work procedures, the General Requirements Document, and EMID Design Guidelines, by incorporating best practices and lessons learned.

Provide strong people leadership by mentoring and developing junior engineers and cross-functional team members, fostering an environment of technical excellence, collaboration, and continuous growth.

Lead or support complex investigations using structured problem-solving tools such as Relentless Root Cause & Corrective Action (RRCA) or other CORE methodologies to drive effective resolution.

Play an essential role in supporting new business opportunities by contributing to proposal development and cost estimates, while offering technical leadership on trade studies and strategic initiatives.

Qualifications You Must Have

Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 10 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 7 years of experience

Qualifications We Prefer

A bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field is required. An advanced degree is preferred.

A minimum of 7 years of project management experience within the aerospace industry, with a strong understanding of project management methodologies such as PMP and Agile.

Proven experience as a people manager with a strong track record of building, developing, and leading high-performing engineering teams. Demonstrated ability to foster a collaborative, inclusive, and growth-oriented team that drives technical excellence and employee engagement.

Proven ability to lead, motivate, and develop high-performing engineering teams.

A strong technical background and in-depth knowledge of electro-mechanical systems and devices.

Demonstrated experience collaborating with suppliers to design, develop, qualify and manufacture complex engineered components.

The salary range for this role is 124,000 USD - 250,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
