Job Title: Senior Project Accountant Consultant

Job Description

The Senior Project Accountant will play a key role in a critical finance transformation initiative, focusing on reconciling revenue between legacy and new systems, refining revenue review processes, and supporting the testing and rollout of an enhanced Earned Value Analysis (EVA) tool. This position is ideal for a project accounting professional who enjoys detailed, hands-on work, thrives in a dynamic environment, and can drive tasks to completion while collaborating closely with finance and cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities

Support a comprehensive revenue reconciliation and tie-out between legacy and new financial systems.Assist in the design, documentation, and implementation of a new revenue review process, including appropriate controls.Provide hands-on support for the testing, validation, and implementation of an updated EVA tool.Execute day-to-day project accounting activities under the direction of finance leadership.Partner closely with finance and cross-functional stakeholders to ensure the accuracy and completeness of revenue data.Identify and resolve discrepancies related to revenue recognition and project setup across multiple project types.Support ongoing process improvements related to project accounting, revenue reporting, and general ledger reconciliation.Assist with reporting activities, including revenue reporting, project performance reporting, and related analytics.Contribute to month-end activities related to project accounting and revenue recognition.Provide invoicing support, including review of timesheets, expense backup, and project billing details.Support data migration and accounting data validation during system implementations or conversions.Assist with maintaining backup files, documentation, and audit-ready support for project accounting transactions.Work within a broader managed project structure while executing detailed tasks independently and accurately.Collaborate on the implementation and optimization of accounting software and EVA tools within the ERP environment.

Essential Skills

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.3–5+ years of strong project accounting experience within a professional services environment.Solid understanding of revenue recognition standards and practices, including percentage-of-completion concepts.Direct experience with Time & Materials projects.Direct experience with Fixed-Fee projects.Direct experience with Cost-Based projects.Strong project accounting mindset with the ability to work in detail while understanding broader project objectives.Proficiency with ERP systems and accounting software.Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables.Ability to work with PDFs and Adobe tools for documentation and reporting.Experience with revenue reconciliation, general ledger tie-outs, and reporting.Ability to identify and resolve discrepancies related to revenue recognition and project setup.Experience working in a professional services context such as engineering, architecture, civil, environmental, or geotechnical services.Ability to execute detailed work within a structured project environment and meet deadlines in a dynamic setting.Access to and ability to use a personal laptop or computer capable of two-factor authentication for system access (priority consideration).

Additional Skills & Qualifications

Senior-level project accounting experience.International project accounting or multi-entity accounting experience.Experience supporting system implementations, system conversions, or finance transformation initiatives.Familiarity with Earned Value Analysis (EVA) tools and methodologies for project performance and financial control.Understanding of how EVA tools support percentage-of-completion revenue recognition, under-billing and over-spend identification, and forecasting accuracy.Experience with professional services accounting processes, including timesheet and expense backup review and invoicing support.Exposure to or experience with Oracle Cloud or similar cloud-based ERP platforms.Experience with accounting software such as BST, Deltek, Infor, or similar systems.Knowledge of IFRS and international accounting concepts.Strong data entry accuracy and attention to detail in handling accounting data and backup files.Ability to support reconciliation, reporting, and general ledger activities related to project accounting.Comfort working with EVA tools in the context of audits, lender reporting, and project performance metrics.

Work Environment

This is a remote position aligned to Eastern Time (EST) hours, typically 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The role requires regular use of a computer and ERP/accounting systems, including Oracle Cloud access provided by the organization. Candidates are strongly preferred to use their own laptop or computer to authenticate via two-factor authentication, enabling faster onboarding and system access, although candidates without their own device may be considered as a backup option. Work is performed in a virtual, collaborative environment with finance and cross-functional teams, focusing on detailed project accounting tasks, system-based reconciliations, and process improvements.

This is a Contract position based out of Boca Raton, FL.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $50.00/hr.
