Senior Product Owner - EMR
**Become a part of our caring community and help us put health first** The Senior Product Owner is responsible for conveying product vision and roadmap to an Agile delivery team by defining user stories and prioritizing product backlog. The Senior Product Owner work assignments involve moderately complex to complex issues where the analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of variable factors. We are seeking a Senior Product Owner to lead strategy and execution for our referral management and specialist network solutions, including prior authorization and related EMR-integrated capabilities. This role is critical to shaping how our patients and care teams experience external specialist coordination and ensuring seamless integration within our Athena EMR environment and adjacent technologies. The ideal candidate combines strong business acumen, deep customer empathy, and a proven ability to create measurable value in highly matrixed healthcare settings. You will serve as the voice of the customer, working across clinical, operational, and technical teams to translate needs into scalable product solutions that strengthen our specialty referral pathways and network performance. **Key Responsibilities** + Product Ownership: Own the strategy, roadmap, and delivery of external specialist referral management solutions, including specialist network optimization, authorization processes, and workflow enablement. + EMR Integration: Partner closely with Athena EMR teams and interfaced vendors to ensure interoperability and a seamless end-user experience. + Customer & Clinical Voice: Lead structured Voice of Customer (VoC) activities, synthesizing input from patients, providers, referral coordinators, payers, and specialty partners to prioritize features that drive value. + Value Creation: Translate customer insights and business needs into requirements, ensuring measurable improvements in efficiency, patient experience, and clinical outcomes. + Stakeholder Alignment: Operate in a highly matrixed environment, aligning product initiatives across business, IT, clinical operations, payers, and external vendors. + Measurement & Reporting: Define and track KPIs related to referral throughput, network utilization, and prior authorization efficiency; use data to drive continuous improvement. + Change Leadership: Partner with change management and training teams to drive adoption and optimize workflows across hundreds of care sites. **Use your skills to make an impact** **Qualifications** + Bachelor's degree + A minimum of five years of product management or healthcare technology experience, with significant responsibility for clinical or operational workflows. + Strong knowledge of primary care, specialist networks, and prior authorization processes. + Experience working with AthenaOne or comparable EMR platforms. + Experience with interoperability standards (HL7, FHIR, APIs). + Demonstrated success leading products in complex, matrixed organizations with multiple stakeholder groups. + Expertise in Voice of Customer methodologies and translating insights into tangible value. + Proven track record of delivering measurable improvements in healthcare operations, access, or patient experience. + Exceptional communication and collaboration skills; comfortable interfacing with executives, clinicians, payers, and technical teams. **Preferred** + Advanced Degree **Additional Information** + Remote role + Must work central or eastern hours; 8-5 Monday-Friday + Travel – Intermittent, up to 20% **Work at Home** To ensure Home or Hybrid Home/Office employees’ ability to work effectively, the self-provided internet service of Home or Hybrid Home/Office employees must meet the following criteria: + At minimum, a download speed of 25 Mbps and an upload speed of 10 Mbps is required; wireless, wired cable or DSL connection is suggested. + Satellite, cellular and microwave connection can be used only if approved by leadership. + Employees who live and work from Home in the state of California, Illinois, Montana, or South Dakota will be provided a bi-weekly payment for their internet expense. + Humana will provide Home or Hybrid Home/Office employees with telephone equipment appropriate to meet the business requirements for their position/job. + Work from a dedicated space lacking ongoing interruptions to protect member PHI / HIPAA information. Travel: While this is a remote position, occasional travel to Humana's offices for training or meetings may be required. **Scheduled Weekly Hours** 40 **Pay Range** The compensation range below reflects a good faith estimate of starting base pay for full time (40 hours per week) employment at the time of posting. The pay range may be higher or lower based on geographic location and individual pay will vary based on demonstrated job related skills, knowledge, experience, education, certifications, etc. $94,900 - $130,500 per year This job is eligible for a bonus incentive plan.
