Senior Product Operations Engineer - OpenShift

About the Job
Join one of the fastest-growing enterprise software and services companies—and the leader in open source innovation. The Red Hat Portfolio Lifecycle Management (PLM) team is seeking a Senior Product Operations Engineer with a focus on OpenShift Container Platform and related technologies.

In this role, you’ll combine technical expertise with a customer-first mindset to improve the user experience across the entire product lifecycle. You’ll work closely with Product Management, Engineering, Quality Engineering, and other teams to identify customer-impacting issues, prioritize fixes and features, and develop scalable processes that enhance product quality and adoption.

As a Product Operations Engineer, you’ll leverage your background in development, DevOps, or similar technical disciplines to streamline engineering processes, inform high-impact decisions, and drive continuous improvements. Your contributions will help ensure that every product in our portfolio is developed with the customer experience at its core.

The PLM team delivers a unified portfolio strategy that amplifies customer feedback, influences end-to-end product development, and promotes a consistently high-quality product experience. Successful applicants must reside in a U.S. state where Red Hat is registered to do business.

What You Will Do

Use data to identify customer trends and guide product roadmap priorities

Develop reusable, self-service solutions to address recurring incidents

Break down complex technical issues into actionable improvements

Select effective methods and techniques to resolve issues efficiently

Analyze upstream development against current customer-reported defects

Promote and apply best practices for sustainable, long-term solutions
 

What You Will Bring

5+ years’ experience as a support, sustaining, or development engineer or equivalent enterprise-level technical role

Proven ability to collaborate with Product Management and Engineering to prioritize customer needs

Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field, or equivalent work experience

Experience with CI/CD automation using tools such as Chef, Puppet, Ansible, or Jenkins

Strong troubleshooting skills, creative problem-solving ability, and effective time management

Self-motivated learner who adapts quickly and contributes to team success

Passion for technology and delivering exceptional customer experiences

Ability to read and write code (strongly preferred)

Demonstrate proficiency in utilizing LLMs (e.g., Google Gemini), as relevant, for tasks such as brainstorming solutions, deep research, summarizing technical documentation, drafting communications, summarizing complex technical information, and enhancing problem-solving efficiency across the development lifecycle.

Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify opportunities for AI integration within the software development lifecycle, driving continuous improvement and innovation in engineering practices; share use cases for successful experiments with stakeholders for broader use.

The following are considered a plus

Familiarity with data analysis tools (e.g., Tableau) and version control tools (e.g., Git, GitHub) is a plus

Experience contributing to upstream open source projects is a plus

The salary range for this position is $116,270.00 - $191,840.00. Actual offer will be based on your qualifications.

Pay Transparency

Red Hat determines compensation based on several factors including but not limited to job location, experience, applicable skills and training, external market value, and internal pay equity. Annual salary is one component of Red Hat’s compensation package. This position may also be eligible for bonus, commission, and/or equity. For positions with Remote-US locations, the actual salary range for the position may differ based on location but will be commensurate with job duties and relevant work experience.
