The Controls and Avionics Solutions (CAS) business is experiencing unprecedented growth. Our two design centers in Endicott, New York and a new state of the art development center in Austin, Texas are the home for our next generation technical solutions. Engineers will develop flight and mission-critical products for more than 170 commercial and military customers. These roles involve a combination of collaborative/in-person and independent work and will take the form of a hybrid work schedule, with time split between working onsite and remotely.
**Position Summary**
Join our team of Product Design Engineers who are tasked with the architecture, design, test, and verification of high-reliability electronics enclosures and circuit card assemblies. In this position you will support the development and product support of advanced avionics, for both military and commercial aircraft, including jet engine control computers, flight control systems, aircraft electric propulsion systems, cabin and cockpit electronics.
**As a Senior Product Design Engineer you will make impacts in the following ways:**
+ Apply expertise in mechanical engineering towards design of chassis, electronics enclosures, and/or circuit card assemblies for commercial and military aircraft applications utilizing 3D CAD tools such as Creo Parametric or similar tools.
+ Selection of hardware components for electrical assemblies utilizing fundamental mechanical engineering principles, theories and techniques.
+ Interpret mechanical design requirements, customer specifications, industry and military specifications and ensure that all requirements are realized in the design of the equipment.
+ Design to meet environmental and reliability requirements typically encountered on military and commercial aircraft programs.
+ Prepare and substantiate Engineering changes to released designs, and review changes written by other team members.
+ Design for producibility, partnering with the Manufacturing Engineer to drive a producible and cost-efficient design in the production environment.
+ Develop test plans in support of Qualification, Accelerated Life testing, Stress Screening, Reliability growth, as well as Design Verification.
+ Review drawings and changes to ensure suitability for the design and manufacturing of the product.
+ Review and approve manufacturing instructions/plannings.
**Required Education, Experience, & Skills**
+ BS in mechanical, electrical, or equivalent with 5 years of experience in Mechanical Engineering and Design of Electronics Assemblies.
+ Familiarity and experience with assembly design and metal part design in military, aircraft, or other high reliability electronics packaging environment.
+ Experience with mechanical aspects of circuit card assembly and printed wiring board design in military, aircraft, or other high reliability electronics packaging environment.
+ Exercises discretion and independent judgment in the performance of duties while complying with policies, procedures, appropriate principles and applicable state and federal laws.
+ Experience with writing test plans and executing test plans for environmental testing of high reliability electronics (thermal, vibration, humidity, etc.).
+ Communicates effectively both orally and in writing
+ Exhibits sound interpersonal skills involving interfacing, coordinating and negotiating with company personnel, customers, suppliers.
+ Working knowledge of drawing and configuration management practices.
+ Utilize computer skills to prepare appropriate reports and documents
**Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills**
+ MS in mechanical, electrical, or equivalent with 8 years of experience in Mechanical Engineering and Design of Electronics Assemblies.
+ Design of Electronics Assemblies using 3D CAD tools such as Creo Parametric or similar 3D CAD tools.
+ Familiarity with Design for Manufacturing (DFM) practices and manufacturing equipment.
+ Experience designing and routing wire harnesses within electronics enclosure and/or vehicle system.
+ Experience with mechanical aspects of HALT, HASS, and other techniques of testing structural integrity and reliability.
+ Experience recognizing and solving mechanical failure modes that occur in high reliability environments.
+ Ability to effectively lead a small team in the solution of open-ended problems.
+ Ability to coach and teach others in the organization.
+ Experience with aircraft engine controls and electronics.
**Pay Information**
Full-Time Salary Range: $97008 - $164914
Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
