Title: Senior Product Design Engineer

Key Accountabilities:
Create detailed design drawings, fully parametric models, standards and specifications for diesel engine components and subsystems, apply understanding of Detroit Diesel 2 Cycle product components, systems, sub-systems and interactionsOrganize, manage and use computer-assisted drafting (CAD) data and equipmentEstablish and maintain an engine master model (EMM) and perform package studies, updates, virtual builds, compatibility checks, and use background data when making decisionsSupport the Engineering Design of components and systems using current product lifecycle / product data management systems such as Windchill, Team Center, TIBS.Provide problem resolution and ownership of release process issues within the product management database, internal release process and system data migration complexities, efficiency workarounds for drawing and CAD model support.Perform engine concept layouts and / or create initial geometric models from 3D scanning and reverse engineering practicesApply knowledge and importance of determining and managing system level requirements.Provide planning and management of product change, design technical approval and configuration investigations.Comprehend required export controls for controlled data related to military product.Collaborate with and co-ordinate extended (i.e. not necessarily co-located) multi-disciplinary teams.Keep management abreast of project status, pending problems and recommend solutions, while producing project status reportsRepresent the company effectively to suppliers and customers by giving presentations on very complex issuesPromote a safety and compliance culture in area of responsibility and live the letter and the spirit of the Rolls Royce Code of Conduct.Perform special projects as neededBasic Requirements:
Bachelor's of Science degree in Engineering and five years’ experience with Product Data Management and Product Lifecycle Management systems; or 9 years’ experience with Product Data Management and Product Lifecycle Management systems. “Applicants must be authorized to work for any employer in the U.S without sponsorship. Excellent ability to apply logical, analytical and innovative thinking on a range of technical problems and make balanced decisions across technical and business parametersExcellent knowledge of principles or detailed operation of internal combustion engines.Strong technical knowledge of the Detroit Diesel 2 Cycle Product line.Strong knowledge of engine architecture, components and their primary function(s)Strong analytical and problem-solving ability when issues are complexStrong ability to work independently, with little direction, and effectively with othersStrong organizational, planning and follow up skillsStrong oral and written communication skillsGood knowledge of Windchill, Creo, Team Center, NX, TIBS - trained in and use of Creo 12.4.2.0 and extension modules such as harness and piping, sheet metal, advanced surfacingProficient with PC and MS Office SuiteKnowledge of manufacturing and assembly processesRolls-Royce is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
