We are looking for you to join our team as a Senior Principal Engineer Systems (Lead Radar Mode Engineer) to join our Airborne Sensors Engineering (ASE) organization. The ASE organization within Northrop Grumman Mission Systems pushes the boundaries of innovation, redefines engineering capabilities, and drives advances in various sciences. You will be supporting the integration and verification of an advanced mode on new hardware. This position is based out of Linthicum, MD and will be 100% on-site.  


What You’ll Get to Do:
As the Senior Principal Engineer Systems (Lead Radar Mode Engineer) for RF sensors you will work on some of the most advanced systems in the U.S. arsenal. These include radars for air dominance platforms (such as the F-22, F-35 Joint Strike Fighter, F-16), bomber and strike programs (such as B-1B), airborne / maritime / ground-based surveillance missions (E-3 AWACS, E-7 MESA, TPS-80 G/ATOR, SEWIP Block 3 and UAV systems such as Global Hawk), as well as restricted programs and missions. We offer the opportunity to join a team to solve problems in the field and drive new solutions into next generation radar systems and air superiority platforms.

Interface directly with the customer to ensure agreement upon requirements

Design tests to perform at the system bench and in flight

Update existing and create new data playback tools 

Analyze data from tests and identify bugs in the mode

Fix bugs in the mode via MATLAB simulation

Collaborate with software/firmware personnel to implement changes in the OFP

Collaborate with the mode team across programs to ensure consistency across products

Mentor junior engineers, sharing your expertise and passion to cultivate future leaders in the field

Present your analysis results to senior leaders and customers, highlighting the impact of your work 

Work independently with minimal direction, exercising considerable latitude in determining technical objectives for assignments. 

This position is contingent upon the successful transfer of an active DoD Secret Clearance and Special Program Access prior to start. 
 
Basic Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree with 8 years of experience, master's degree with 6 years of experience, or Ph.D. with 4 years of experience in Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics, or related technical fields; an additional 4 years of experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.

U.S Citizenship is required.

A current / active DoD Secret Clearance.

Ability to obtain Special Program Access (SAP) prior to start. 

4 years of experience designing, integrating, testing and troubleshooting radar modes. 

4 years of demonstrated proficiency in the MATLAB programming environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

Advanced degrees in Science, Technology, Engineer, or Mathematics or other related technical fields.

A current / active DoD Top Secret Clearance or higher.

2 years of experience with Digital Signal Processing and algorithm development.

Primary Level Salary Range: $131,100.00 - $196,700.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
