Senior / Principal Scientist - Drug Metabolism and Pharmacokinetics

Candidates will be hired in at the level based on education, experience and business need._ Boehringer Ingelheim is seeking a highly motivated Senior Scientist or Principal Scientist with a strong background in Toxicokinetics (TK) as well as mechanistic pharmacokinetics (PK) investigation to join the NonClinical Pharmacokinetic/ Biodistribution group at our US headquarters in Ridgefield, CT. The role is primarily responsible for designing TK studies, providing modeling support for dose selection, and conducting routine TK analysis and reporting. Additional responsibilities include designing animal PK and biodistribution studies after candidate selection and contributing to the optimization of human dose predictions. The ideal candidate should possess a strong understanding of the principles of drug development. Core responsibilities include serving as a TK expert which includes conducting TK analyses in regulated environments and working closely with discovery research, nonclinical safety, and clinical pharmacology teams to fully understand drug PK/PD. In addition, the candidate will be responsible for managing and conducting in vitro and in vivo scientific studies. They may also be tasked with managing or mentoring scientific staff. The role further requires the candidate to propose and implement innovative techniques, effectively manage and prioritize multiple projects, and develop strategies to achieve predetermined milestones in alignment with R&D and corporate objectives. Our competitive compensation and benefit programs reflect Boehringer Ingelheim´s high regard for our employees. **Duties & Responsibilities** + Independently performs scientific experiments with a predefined goal including developing new methodologies, protocols and or test procedures that contribute to core group/research goals and reflect expert knowledge; May direct and oversee experimental design and results of technicians and junior level scientists + Develops an understanding of R&D team goals and works effectively toward achieving them; Either assumes departmental responsibility for projects when necessary or has ability to participate as representative on multiple project teams and contribute to defining expertise-related aspects of overall program goals + Prepares clear technical reports, publications and oral presentations. Independently communicates results in the form of reports and or presentations; Presents responsibly and defends own work at meetings; May deliver updates to senior level management in context of overall project goals + Develops expertise in a specific project-relevant area or technology; May provide guidance and expertise to advance specific projects or evaluate and propose new technologies and concepts in support of multiple projects; Ability to work with various LIMS; Compilation of associated outputs with supervision + Keeps abreast of relevant literature; Develops visibility outside of functional area + Assumes responsibility for direct reports as needed including recruiting, managing, mentoring and developing scientific staff + Complies with all applicable regulations; Ensures that work performed in area of responsibility is conducted in a safe and compliant manner; Maintains proper records in accordance with SOPs and policies + Contributes to departmental administration; Demonstrates fiscal responsibility with respect to cost of experiments, technology, external collaborations, and travel **Requirements** **Requirements for Both Levels:** + Demonstrates a broad knowledge of field + Appropriate level of understanding of applicable regulations + Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing in an inter disciplinary environment Ph.D. or equivalent experience in a related field + Demonstrated expertise in animal PK/TK studies and experience working in cross-functional teams and/or external partnerships. + Proficiency in bioanalysis for PK, TK and ADA. + Expertise with advanced therapeutics such as viral vectors or novel antibody constructs + Experience supervising or conducting in vivo studies with translational mouse model + Experience in writing and reviewing non-GLP and GLP reports + Experience with validation of bioanalytical immunoassay methods for biologics in a regulatory environment (GLP/GCP) is desirable. Ability to operate laboratory equipment independently + Attention to detail and strong organization skills. + Ability to critically evaluate and interpret data. + Capable of managing multiple projects with a high emphasis on quality and timelines + Highly motivated with the ability to overcome challenges, develop and implement effective strategies and quickly adapt to new responsibilities. **Requirements for Senior Scientist** + Ph.D. Degree or equivalent experience in a related field **Requirements for Principal Scientist** + Ph.D. Degree; or equivalent in relevant field and 7+ years experience; in addition to experience in lab management **Compensation Data** Compensation: This position, Senior Scientist - Drug Metabolism and Pharmacokinetics, offers a base salary typically between $140,000.00 and $222,000.00 USD.
