If you are passionate about driving innovation and excellence in propulsion technologies, we encourage you to apply and join our dynamic team. **Essential Responsibilities** As the Senior Principal Engineer – Propulsion, you will: + Drive advancements in propulsion technologies, delivering cutting-edge solutions that align with strategic objectives. + Collaborate with diverse teams and leverage your extensive internal and external network to tackle complex technical challenges and deliver system-level solutions. + Lead and mentor a talented team, fostering growth, development, and innovation within the organization. + Shape technology roadmaps and support the Technology Director in building partnerships with strategically aligned external collaborators. + Partner closely with team members spanning multiple technology domains and business units within GE Aerospace Research and across the GE Aerospace enterprise. + Grow and maintain a scientific network within government agencies (DARPA, NASA, DOD, AFRL, etc.), universities, and industry consortiums. + Coordinate and host internal and external visitors; enable GE Aerospace Research multi-disciplinary teams to see the future through collaborative, external engagements. + Provide peer review for assessing relevant ongoing research and planned proposal activities. + Oversee technical execution across multiple projects, ensuring alignment with business goals, stakeholder expectations, and customer needs. + Establish clear performance metrics to track progress against organizational goals and strategy, while leading regular reviews with key stakeholders to communicate updates and refine direction. **Required Qualifications** + Masters degree in Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering or related field with a minimum of 10+ years of experience leading complex teams or projects. + Fundamental understanding of propulsion as a system and domain knowledge in one or more relevant aerospace disciplines: aero, heat transfer, mechanical, controls, and thermodynamics. + Demonstrated ability to model complex systems with an appropriate level of fidelity to explore systems performance, execute trade-off analyses, and define requirements for subsystems and components. + Demonstrated ability to partner to shape the strategic direction, define the tactical programs, and ensure the execution of roadmaps. + Demonstrated ability to effectively respond to business-critical and time-sensitive requests from customers and stakeholders. + Demonstrated systems-level thinker capable of effectively communicating and influencing at all levels of the organization. + Awareness of emerging technologies relevant to aerospace systems. + Experience in driving new ideas from concept to demonstration. + Ability to make decisions with confidence when problems or solutions are not well-defined. + Strong interpersonal and leadership skills with demonstrated ability to lead multimillion-dollar programs with complex stakeholder groups. + Proven track record of guiding and mentoring individuals and multidisciplinary teams. + Excellent communication and presentation skills at all levels of the organization. + Willingness to obtain active US Government Secret Clearance with ability to attain a Top-Secret Clearance; prerequisite for a security clearance is U.S. citizenship. + Must be willing to work out of an office located in Niskayuna, NY. + Must be 18 years or older. **Desired Qualifications** + Doctorate degree in Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering or related fields with 15+ years of relevant professional experience in a research environment. + Subject matter expertise in one or more propulsion technologies including gas turbine engines, jet propulsion, or other relevant aerospace propulsion technologies. The base pay range for this position is $115,000 - $275,000 USD Annually. The specific pay offered may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidate’s experience, education, and skill set. This position is also eligible for an annual discretionary bonus based on a percentage of your base salary based on the plan. This posting is expected to close on August 30th, 2025.
