Job Description The Sr. Powerplant Engineer reports to the Manager, Powerplant Engineering and is responsible for the engineering data, instructions, documents, and technical support that economically ensures the safety, airworthiness, and reliability of Atlas Air aircraft within the following ATA chapter subjects: electrical power (AC/DC generation, power distribution, battery systems), fire protection, wings, windshields, engine, pneumatic, engine systems, fuel, ignition, exhaust, oil (24, 26, 30, 36, 49, 70- 80). Project development, management, and implementation for repairs, modifications, or alterations. Technical point of contact on assigned subject matter for troubleshooting assistance. Issue instructions and documents to economically support operations and return aircraft to service in a safe, airworthy, and timely manner. Review OEM Service Bulletins and other regulatory documents such as Airworthiness directives (ADs) and Notices of Proposed Rulemaking (NPRMs) for implementation, and initiates required engineering documentation based on recommended disposition. Provides support on investigations for safety, regulatory, and reliability matters. Monitors Fleet performance and initiates corrective actions and improvements to maintain fleet health. Establish component repair and build specifications to enhance dispatch reliability in accordance with budgetary and regulatory requirements. Administer the Engine Condition Monitoring Program. Review and update powerplant maintenance programs and documentation. Knowledge of turbofan, turbine engine operations, failure analysis, and/or root cause engineering such as, metallurgical analysis. Skills and Requirements 5+ years’ experience Airline, Maintenance Repair & Overhaul (MRO), and/or Original Equipment Manufacturing (OEM) industries. FAA Airframe and Powerplant license. Proficiency in technical analysis and working knowledge of Federal Aviation Regulations or certification requirements. Ability to execute assigned tasks appropriately, including EOs, troubleshooting assistance, manual oversight, vendor interactions and communications. Excellent communication skills Ability to multi-task OK onsite in Erlanger, KY. Bachelor’s Degree in preferred field of Mechanical, Aerospace, or Electrical Engineering or other technical equivalent degree.
