The Cloud Data Warehouse team is looking for an innovative, highly organized SeniorPortfolio Manager (individual contributor) to lead and mature our portfolio management discipline. This role will oversee the intake, evaluation, prioritization, reporting, and communication of both new and existing data projects across the enterprise.
You will manage the portfolio of data assets and initiatives that support business-led projects across Schwab, ensuring transparency, alignment to strategy, and maximum value delivery. This is a senior leadership role suited for someone who excels at creating clarity, influencing across diverse stakeholder groups, and enabling teams to execute with purpose.
What You’ll Do
Portfolio Strategy & Value ArticulationArticulate the value and impact of Cloud Data Warehouse analytical solutions to senior leadership and business partnersDefine and evolve portfolio management frameworks that align with Data Management and Schwab Data strategic objectivesEstablish portfolio performance measures, KPIs, and reporting mechanisms to create transparency and identify opportunities for improvementPortfolio Planning & GovernanceCollaborate on prioritization, and sequencing of new and existing project requestsMaintain a comprehensive portfolio view including active projects, backlog, resource allocation, risks, and dependenciesPartner with Product Owners, Engineering Managers, and business stakeholders to ensure portfolio alignment with capacity and enterprise prioritiesLead portfolio review ceremonies and ensure decision-making transparencyRoadmap & Communication LeadershipConsolidate and maintain all Cloud Data Warehouse roadmaps across domains, teams, and asset areasDevelop executive-ready presentations, dashboards, and portfolio summaries for SDO LeadershipOwn and maintain team communication channels including SharePoint, Confluence, and other internal communication toolsOperational Excellence & Capacity ManagementTrack and report on team capacity and forecast demand to inform staffing and prioritizationImprove portfolio workflows, intake processes, and operational mechanisms for clarity and efficiencyDrive consistency in reporting, documentation, and cross-team communicationWhat you haveJob CompetenciesAnalytical Thinking – Uses structured approaches and data-driven insights to solve complex problemsPortfolio & Program Management – Manages complex, cross-functional project portfolios that maximize value deliveryStrategic Communication – Crafts clear, compelling messages tailored for both business and technical audiencesResults Orientation – Drives accountability, execution, and progress toward goalsInfluence & Collaboration – Engages stakeholders across levels to build alignment and remove obstacles
Required Qualifications:
6+ years of experience in technology portfolio management, program management, product management, or related disciplineDocumented experience managing complex, multi-team portfolios within data, analytics, cloud, or technology domainsStrong understanding of Data Warehouse concepts, data management lifecycle, and analytical solution developmentDemonstrated ability to communicate complex topics in clear, concise, executive-friendly formatsProven experience building portfolio dashboards, KPIs, and performance metricsAbility to influence across organizational boundaries and build alignment without authorityExperience working in an Agile environment; familiarity with backlog management and prioritization frameworksStrong organizational skills with the ability to manage competing prioritiesPreferred Qualifications:
Master’s Degree in Business, Analytics, Computer Science, Engineering, or related fieldExperience working with cloud data platforms such as Google Cloud Platform or BigQueryExperience in financial services, brokerage, or banking industriesFamiliarity with Business Data Management (BDM), Data Governance, Data Quality, Metadata Management, and related conceptsExperience managing enterprise-scale technology or data portfoliosCritical-thinking and problem-solving mindsetIn addition to the salary range, this role is also eligible for bonus or incentive opportunities.
