Job Title: Senior Plantation Manager – Rubber
Location: Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea
Reporting to: General Manager

Job Purpose:
The Senior Plantation Manager – Rubber is responsible for the end-to-end management of rubber plantation operations, focusing on sustainable latex production, effective estate management, manpower supervision, and yield optimization. The role requires strong agronomic knowledge specific to rubber and proven leadership in managing large-scale estates or multiple plantations.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Rubber Plantation Operations Oversee and execute all operational activities including land preparation, planting, upkeep, tapping, and replanting. Ensure correct implementation of tapping systems (e.g., half-spiral alternate daily) and latex harvesting schedules. Monitor tree health and implement pest, disease, and nutrient management practices. 2. Yield Optimization & Agronomy Implement best agronomic practices to optimize latex yield and tree longevity. Monitor tapping panel rotation and ensure high tapping efficiency and bark consumption standards. Conduct yield forecasting and data analysis for performance improvement. 3. Financial & Resource Management Develop and manage estate budgets, including cost controls for field operations, fertilizers, chemicals, and labor. Ensure all activities are conducted within approved budgetary limits without compromising productivity. 4. Manpower & Leadership Lead and manage a team comprising estate managers, tappers, and field workers. Conduct training for tappers to ensure tapping quality and latex collection standards. Manage labor productivity and attendance while fostering a safe and disciplined work environment. 5. Sustainability, Compliance & Safety Ensure compliance with local regulations, environmental standards, and safety protocols. Promote sustainable rubber cultivation practices in line with certification standards (e.g., FSC, PEFC, or other relevant schemes). Maintain proper documentation for audits and plantation certifications. 6. Infrastructure & Maintenance Oversee estate infrastructure including housing, roads, water supply, and collection centers. Ensure proper maintenance and calibration of tapping tools and equipment. 7. Reporting & Communication Submit timely reports on estate performance, latex output, cost analysis, and operational challenges. Coordinate with upper management, government bodies, and other stakeholders as required. 8. Others Other ad hoc matters as may be required by management from time to time.
Requirements:
Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree or Diploma in Agriculture, Plantation Management, or related field. Specialized training or knowledge in rubber agronomy is highly desirable. Experience: Minimum 10 years of experience in rubber plantation management, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership position. Strong operational knowledge of rubber tapping systems, latex yield monitoring, and plantation replanting cycles. Skills: Excellent leadership and team management capabilities. Solid understanding of plantation finance, cost control, and workforce planning. Familiar with plantation management software and proficient in Microsoft Office. Good communication skills in Bahasa Malaysia and English. Other: Willing to be based on-site and work in rural estate environments. Possess a valid driving license and willingness to travel between estates if managing multiple sites.
